Why do Protestant confirmations need to be repeated?

Catholics recognize the validity of baptism within many other Christian faith traditions. If someone is confirmed Lutheran or Anglican, why does he need to be confirmed Catholic when entering the Church?
 
Because Lutheran and Anglican ministers do not have the power to confer a valid confirmation. Only those Christian churches with valid holy orders (e.g., Catholic, Orthodox) can confer a valid confirmation. When a Protestant who “received” confirmation in a Protestant church chooses to become a Catholic, he is in actuality receiving confirmation for the first time because his prior confirmation was invalid. Like baptism, confirmation is a one-time sacrament and cannot be repeated.
