Because Luther based his theology of the Trinity on the Catholic tradition. And I guess later Protestants have not challenged it.
And you base this conclusion on what?
Most so called Protestant groups do not believe as Luther did on:
  1. the real presence
  2. baptismal regeneration
  3. Confession and Absolution, including private confession
Some reject, contrary to Luther:
4) iconology
5) infant baptism

A bunch of hooey. Catholic scholars universally accept the Holy Trinity.
No hooey. You misunderstand what I said. I said that Catholic scholars agree that the doctrine of the Trinity in not found in the New Testament. I did not say that Catholic scholars don’t accept the doctrine of the Trinity.
Your effort to turn Catholics against each other is not charitable. Besides, informed Catholics know this to be a fact, so we see right through it.
Citing Catholic scholars regarding the topic of this thread is not uncharitable. This is a debate forum and I’m debating. Please feel free to contribute to this debate by citing Catholic scholars who do believe that the doctrine of the Trinity is found in the New Testament. Take care and God bless you.
