Why do Protestants desire to marry Catholics?

I married a non-practicing Catholic who now goes to my church with me and our boys. I was not looking for any particular denomination to marry. I just fell in love with him and he fell in love with me and then BAM, we got married and started a family. 😃

We really have to watch stereotyping…not all Catholic men are on the path…not all Protestant Men are on the path either…(I absolutely despise when someone posts ā€œCatholics are all immoral drunksā€ā€¦I’m sure non-catholics would feel the same)

That being said I married a Baptist when I was off the path for a short period…it was debate with my husband that led me back…my H has had personal ā€œissuesā€ with God, and my reversion is helping him to face these…

See…we’re both growing. I don’t know if my H will ever convert but there is movement where before there was none on either of our parts.

God whispers to some, screams at others when he is calling them home.

This is an interesting topic. I myself have no strong desire to marry a man just become he is a Catholic, so what if he is a Catholic and yet does not carry himself well, don’t even need to think about it.

This is what is happening to us as sorts and by no means did I want to stereotype as I believe we can all be on a different spiritual walk even both Catholics as these threads point out.
My going back to my Catholicism has enabled him to start to face his brought up faith or what he really does believe as we also were in a sort of limbo spiritually.
I just wasn’t sure how to put it into words and wanted to get ideas from the non-catholics as to how he must feel and believe as he was coming from a different direction. Yet there is one God the Father and trying to tell the truth no matter where it may lead. We have had a relationship where we are so darn polite to each other we don’t speak the truth and try to be on the SAME walk that we were not going anywhere just sitting on the bench in the park.:o Just a figure of speach .

My question is…why would a viral anti-Catholic marry a Catholic?
Is that a typo or a very clever pun?

Viral is of course having to do with viruses. One might describe agressive anti-Catholics that way since they go around injecting Catholics with their theology in the hopes of replicating themselves. šŸ˜‰

Wow. That sounds like the opposite of why my husband and I went through. Our arguments would often reach the point of anger and shouting. (On my part. I hate being shown my own ignorance. ;)) My husband never backed down though. He just kept presenting the truth in love until I was won. šŸ™‚
So I take it the big day is this Easter?! Welcome Home!
Well, that was the idea. My journey has halted though since we were forced to leave the parish where I was attending RCIA due to rampant abuses and heretical teachings. 😦 I’m not sure anymore what course to take. We need to find another parish first.

when I was married 50 years ago, my pastor would not marry a Baptist to a Catholic.

My question is…why would a **viral anti-Catholic **marry a Catholic?
What’s a ā€œVIRAL anti-Catholicā€ā€¦?

Do you man ā€œvirulent anti-Catholicā€?

Do you mean ā€œferal anti-Catholicā€?

I didn’t realize there was an actual anti-Catholic virus…?

Goodness,… no wonder it’s so futile talking to you anti-Catholics…!

Does anyone know of a ā€œcureā€ for this virus,… and why haven’t I heard anythng about this in the news…!!?

Does Little Jimmy Cameron know about this…!!?

What a TITANIC story…!!!

I wanted to say that I will be married in 104 days, to a Methodist girl, the girl of my dreams, in her Methodist church, with the full and complete blessing of the Catholic Church. She’s the person that I want to spend the rest of my life with. I can’t say why she’d want to marry a Catholic, especially a Catholic that can get as militant as I can, but she does and I couldn’t be happier. She knows how important my faith is to me and how much it will mean for my children. I will not push her to convert. Yes, I hope that some day the Lord will call her home, but I can only allow the Holy Spirit to speak to her heart. Maybe the seed was planted in her already. A year ago, she secretly quit her beloved choir group to begin RCIA at the local parish. She kept it from me for some time, but later told me what she had done, not explicitly to convert, but for her to learn about my faith. She has participated in a Catholic Small Faith community to expound her knowledge. Heck, she even comes to these forums to read and learn. (ā€œHey kiddo, I love you!ā€) So, do I hope that she converts? Absolutely. But I will not push.

We all must remember that we are all children of God and called to learn and love Him. All the faiths of trinitarian Christianity share a common thread, a common history, and a common purpose. To know God and to serve Him.

PM me if you want to know how we got the blessing of the Church.

My question to you non-Catholics is why if you disagree so much with the teachins of the RCC do you marry a Catholic?
My DH (Methodist)married me a Catholic and he said in high school he was always drawn to the Catholics but I said why?
He said he didn’t know. Any ideas? Dessert
I, Protestant do not disagree with my husband, Catholic on most areas of our faith.
I married him for many reasons. None of them having anything to do with religion.

:confused: Faith should be the first thing to consider when marrying someone. As Catholics, the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony is taken very seriously. Jesus should always come first in any relationship. So religion should be very important in a relationship when considering marriage.

nil a bhuiochas ort:irish1:

Sorry, I can’t recreate the proper accent marks!:rolleyes:
nĆl a bhuĆochas ort! (don’t mention it) There you go! 😃

Ć” = hold down the alt key as you type the numbers 1-6-0 on number pad.
Ć© = alt + 130
Ć = alt + 161
ó = alt + 162
Ćŗ = alt + 163

And for me in the Spanish language the Ʊ is alt + 164, not that it would matter to you. šŸ˜› LOL

okay, sorry off topic, you can have your thread back dessert. :o

We are both Christians and we both put Jesus first. That is all that matters. Jesus does come first in our marriage. It doesn’t matter what church a person belongs to. Jesus is what matters not what church a person attends. What matters is wether or not you are marrying another believer. The BIBLE says not to marry an unbeliever. It doesn’t say not to marry outside your church. If Catholics make such a big deal about not marrying outside the Catholic church, why do Catholics marry Protestants?

I agree with this. This is what I am teaching my children. They must marry a believer. That is my only criteria. I dont care what denom they are or what church they belong but whether or not they put God first. I told my daughter she needs to look for someone who puts God first and her second.šŸ‘

I wasnt saved when I got married so here I am married to a non-believer(he is catholic but in name only). But I was not raised the same way my children are being raised. I want them to have a spiritual marriage. I have a great marriage but it lacks the spriritual. Im a spiritually single mom.😦
