Why do Protestants say Catholicism leads to hell?

Look at his own words here. He’s describing the necessity of ***doing things ***as salvation issues, because without faith it is impossible to come to God and be saved. Look at that though…out of one side of his mouth he accuses us of salvation by works and out of the other side he sits there and tells you that those works are necessary for a person to be saved. (Welcome to modern post reformation theology 101.)
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them. Matt 7:15-20

Do Christians works show they have true faith?
.

Baptism is ABSOLUTELY NOT
a necessity.
Clement would agree on this point as well (works of holiness)Really? Well maybe he should have told St. John the apostle before he taught that to his disciple Polycarp, because he sure says different. Clement wouldn’t agree and you can’t prove otherwise, though I’m sure you wish you could. 😛

The Martyrdom of Polycarp: 9:3 And when the proconsul pressed him, and said, Swear, and I will release thee, revile Christ; Polycarp said, Eighty and six years have I served him, and in nothing hath he wronged me; and how, then, can I blaspheme my King, who saved me? The man was 86 years old. (Oh, and a contemporary of Clement.)

I’ve never said such…DON’T put words in my mouth it makes you appear dishonest Michael. They are an indicator not a mandatory sanctifying instrument.
I sure can’t tell from the Word of God! Show me where you get all that from the words of Jesus and St. James. I don’t think you can.

I am not putting anything in your mouth…I am simply demonstrating the fallacy of your own teachings compared to the Word of God.

.What does the passage say Irish? 🙂

Notice something in verse 19.

19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Does that sound to you like not being judged unto salvation?

Now please answer my question.

Do Christians works show they have true faith?

.

Jesus said no one comes to the Father but by him. That means only Jesus can save us. Muslims and other non-christians don’ believe in Jesus and are devoid of this salvation.

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does
not believe
will be condemned."

Mark 16:16

Faith and Baptism are the core tenents of salvation. Without Faith in Jesus everything else dosen’t hold.

Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. Peroid. End of Story. If you say otherwise then you claim what he did on the cross was for nothing and his suffering was for nothing.
Okay, Jesus didn’t die for all mankind, just christians!!!
I;m in, hope you make it!!!

Well the truth is the truth. It is only through the One True Church that Christ established that men are saved. You can cry all you want about it. It is like crying that 2 plus 2 is 4 because you wish it were 5. DONT HATE APPRECIATE!!! TAKE THAT ENERGY AND SPREAD THE TRUTH WITH LOVE AND CONVICTION!!!
Hell is our side of the Catholic Church!!!

Judged by our works you bet…Not unto salvation though friend.
But the lack of them can damn us, though. We can’t work our way into Heaven, but we can certainly “not-work” our way quite easily into Hell.
The RIGHTOUS will be judged by their works some will get no rewards (they’ll be embarrassed) but will be saved…Some will get many rewards.
There is only one reward - Heaven. If you are “without rewards” then you are in Hell. Jesus was dividing the sheep and the goats for Heaven and for Hell - not for “rewards.”

By the same token then how can not doing something negate your salvation?
Jesus says:Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.~Matthew 7:14
No! dead faith is saying you have faith but then not living a life that shows that truth, a real faith does the things of Christ, for being present with a real faith means you are indwelled with the HS therefore doing the works [God] predestined for you ephesians 2:10 says as much…
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
So we do agree that if you truly have saving faith you should be … doing something? :hmmm:

Okay…I’ll bite. Sure, Christians who do good works demonstrate their faith. What are you getting at?

Baptism is ABSOLUTELY NOT a necessity.
My Savior says otherwise. Goodness, do you read the whole New Testament or just St Paul’s epistles?
Clement would agree on this point as well (works of holiness)
Ah, but baptism is not a work that we do, it’s a work that God does in us. It’s not at all a work of holiness on our part.

I do not say Catholicism leads to hell.

I am only going indicate how you can have 5 solas without contradiction, whether you agree with them or not.
  1. We are saved for the glory of God alone.
  2. We are saved by Christ alone.
  3. We receive our salvation by grace alone.
  4. We accept our salvation through faith alone.
  5. We can learn of our salvation from scripture alone.
Won’t we learn of our salvation at our judgment, alone?

Sigh.

Luke 6:46 is in my Bible; not sure if Luther redacted it in yours:

46: And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

John 6:53:

53: Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

CM’s noted the passage from Mark 25 already.

The fact is, if you check those red-text Bibles, you’ll find Christ answers the question of salvation differently based on circumstance and context. This is why Catholics maintain Protestants can’t simply cherrypick the Gospel; it’s not “either/or” but “both/and”.

That is also why devout Protestants resemble devout Catholics—they insist on doing good works. They do not simply wall themselves in their room with their Bible and do nothing, nor do they “sin boldly”.

Nobody denies that we should do good works. It is a question of whether they merit anything.

Sigh…point taken.
Of course, you are correct…just having some fun with the language. We won’t know our salvation status until final judgment. That’s why we have to work it out “in fear and trembling.”
