Why Do Protestants think They Know Everything There Is To Know About The Catholic Faith?

Hi,
I am Protestant and I don’t know everything about the Catholic Church. That is why I am here…to learn!

It’s funny that you can dish it but you can’t take it. He didn’t accuse anyone or all Catholics of it. He just stated a fact, a sad but true one. Any child molested by any clergyman is a tragedy no matter what church you go to.

And if the priests have nothing to do with the faith, why do you listen to them? I doubt you do since you seem to know everything already.[/QUOT

reteeks, **he mentioned it first, I defend my church against you and others who are constantly bashing it and bashing Catholics if you do not like our answers. It is a fact that the CC has the LOWEST molestation rate THAN ANY OTHER CHURCH.
www.reformation.com
. Look it up, I’m sure you’ll see your own church there.
Apparently you can’t read. I have never bashed catholicism, and I resent people like yourself accusing me of doing so. I understand we don’t all agree on everything, but you do not see me condemning catholics the way others do on here, and I do not see every catholic condemning protestants on here like you do. I have simply come back at your hateful and spiteful statements.

And I never said Priests have the highest molestation rates. But you did not answer my questions: And if the priests have nothing to do with the faith, why do you listen to them?

What I meant to say was the priests molestation has nothing to do with the faith. So, get over it.

churchcamefirst;4259775:
And protestant ministers who do the same have nothing to do with our faith, either. So you get over it. You are the one who harps on it.
No, I get sick and tired of people, mostly non-Catholics here who they themselves harp on the priest scandal constantly. As if nothing else was around before the year 2001…again,

if you and others want to talk.

I never brought it up first. You started it by bringing up the sins of some protestants. I have only mentioned it when people like you start pointing fingers without addressing the faults of your priests. And it was going on way before 2001. The catholic scandal, just like many protestant ones, was covered up by those in high places. That is a sad indictment on leaders of both groups.

**No, you started it by stating the priest scandal and quoting others. **

Besides the obvious fact that I didn’t say that, what did SIA say that wasn’t true?

**Show me where in the Vatican there are numbers of converts from Africa. **

There are almost 2 BILLION CATHOLICS.
As I said, cite your source. I would assume the numbers I got from the Vatican would include African converts.

Then show me the exact paragraph in what it says. My source is from the Christian Resource. Now, show me.

I haven’t been following the thread, but I looked into the numbers are here’s what I came up with. According to the Vatican (I searched vatican.va for the original source, but I haven’t found it yet), the number of Catholics in the world seems o be around 1.13-1.31 billion (1.13 looks to be the most accurate figure I could find):

uk.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUKL3068682420080330
asianews.it/index.php?l=en&art=11655&size=A
news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/4243727.stm
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Catholicism_by_country

The 2 billion figure, on the other hand, would seem to derive from the figure for all Christians worldwide, which has been placed at approximately 2.0-2.1 billion:

religioustolerance.org/worldrel.htm
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_religious_groups

(Note that this figure includes some groups that most of us wouldn’t consider to be Christians, most notably LDS, but that these groups look to total less than 100 million of the figure)

I had a harder time digging up numbers on the Catholic Church in Africa specifically, but did find one article which cited a growth from 1.9 million to 130 million from 1900 to 2000, averaging over a million people per year over the time frame:

ncronline.org/NCR_Online/archives2/2006a/031006/031006a.php

As a follow up, this article indicates, unsurprisingly, that the growth in Africa has been more concentrated in recent years, seeing a growth of 94 million between 1978 and 2004, or about 3.6 million per year.

30giorni.it/us/articolo.asp?id=10812

One area of serious concern is that while Christianity continues to grow, it is not keeping pace with population growth: both Catholicism and Christianity as a whole have seen their numbers as a % of global population decline slightly in recent years.

Matthew 9:37-38

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

I never add smiley animations. Cut and paste is a very dull way to argue. Let him argue with his own words.
why dont you actually look into his “paste” posts? they are documented evidence, nicely organized for you to read. so why dont you read through them and consider what they contain?🙂

The process leading to the Protestant Reformation began a very long time before Luther pulled his caper. It was a very long process even antedating the Great Schism, which was kind of a part of that process. Dissension has always been a part of Christianity just as it has been a part of all religions.
thats why there are systems in catholicism to resolve disputes. neatly organized cogs and gears, that while they may be slow, work. then luther throws a wrench of so called reform into the whole works.🤷

he was just saying that molestation is a problem in all religions and countries and places. ok? and preists dont have to do with the faith in that they dont change it, they preach it.
