Why do Saints like St. Faustina, St. Thomas Aquinas, and other Saints write such beautiful prayers? When I try to come up with my own prayer it doesn’t even compete.

Even OT Saints like David and Solomon can write such beautiful prayers. I don’t know any modern day Christian who can write that well, maybe except Great John Paul.

Well … they were saints AND poets, I think.

We’ve lost an appreciation of poetry in general, and its power to evoke emotion in people. I bet Shakespeare could’ve written some great prayers. And John Donne wrote some absolutely sublime and prayerful religious poetry.

There are some more modern ones you might like - for example Gerard Manley Hopkins.

You too can write beautiful prayers–I do. I write them to saints. Here’s the trick: use their own words from their own writings and just put them in prayer form 👍

Because they wrote from the heart and had the courage to open wide their hearts even if it meant that they were afraid and ridiculed and perhaps would even die for it. They loved to excess and were unashamed to let that be expressed.

Everyone can write like that about Jesus that is if they desire to.

…also, the Holy Spirit stirs up their hearts and fills them the unconditional love for God.

Their prayers help us so much in our spiritual lives. When I was in my country, I didn’t have any praying cards like I do now, therefore, I used to pray what my mom taught me. Now, living in the US, I got tons of books, novenas, and praying cards to use. 🙂

Saints’ prayers really help me know how to pray. I still keep praying the prayers that my mom taught me when I was little kid :o ( about 20 years ago ha ha)

The answer is quite simple:
**
Saintliness=Holiness

Holiness=Closeness to God

Closeness to God=Knowing Him More Intimately

Knowing Him More Intimately=Speaking/Writing in a Similar Manner as Would God

PEACE**

Practice makes perfect. The more you pray to God, the better you get at it. I’m sure the Holy Spirit helps out too.
