It seems to me that scientists wants to prove we came from the dust of the stars and we evolved through many forms and became human.In otherwords we are accidents not guided by anything but keep on evolving.Lets just assume this to be true.How would it change their lives or ours?

Scientists do not think we are mere accidents. They believe we are amazing rarities!

I guess some people just don’t want to believe in God. 🤷 :sad_yes:

But if we just happened for no reason like the big bang how are we not an accident?Aren’t the stars and animals accidents?if the stars aren’t accidents then they must be rarities also.

It is very possible God creates through evolution - it is entirely in line with catholic beliefs.

If life began without a creator God and no God existed, it would be interesting. I think people would strive to keep the earth in better shape and just explore everything we possibly can.

There would still be morals in our world since people can have morals without a God. It would be essential for survival.

We should make the most of our lives.

thanks for responding but can you answer my question?Scientists want to prove we are accidents.THey don’t believe God creates anything or works through evolution either.Why do they want to prove we came from the stars?What difference would it make for them or anybody else?

Have you been reading creationist apologetic websites? Scientists do not consider humans to be accidents. You mentioned the big bang in a later post. Do you even realize it was a Catholic who came up with that one? 🙂
I am unclear if you really understand the topic.

Not all scientists believe this. I have a doctorate in biology, and absolutely do NOT believe in human evolution. When I present this topic to my students, I tell them that I am not here to tell them in no uncertain terms that human evolution is a FACT. I present to them the major theories regarding the beginning of human life on earth, and tell them to make their own decision on what they believe. I only care that they can intelligently back up their belief, and are knowledgable about the different theories.

Because I teach at a secular school, I’m not able to “dictate” religion, and must be “tolerant” of multicultural backgrounds and beliefs. I do stress to the students that no human being alive knows exactly how human life began, and to beware of anyone who tells them so.

I do take heat from the other faculty members, and many look down on me for how I present the subject. They assume that you cannot be a good biologist if you don’t accept human evolution as fact. I do the see rationale of evolution on a genetic level (genetic drifts and shifts), especially at the molecular level and in bacteria/viruses. Oh well. I’d rather be seen as a “poor” biologist than to go against my belief that human life is sacred and that we were created by God in His own image.

Do you understand the Scientific Method? That may help you figure out the differences about how truth is arrived at.

Bold lettering mine.

Why? Why would there be morals left? It (morals) is not essential for survival --just like it is not essential for sharks. Sharks (or variations thereof) have been around for what? 250 Million years? How would ‘Good’ be defined? Ultimately it would just boil down to one’s opinion yes? There is no force behind that idea. Why would I adhere to what you think is good? Hah! ‘Good’ would now be translated into ‘what is good for me!’ :bigyikes:

I can only wonder where you ever got your degree.

When most people believe they will be taken off to heaven there is not alot of reason to keep it in good shape.

I want to keep the earth in good shape because I breath the air and drink the water.Also i like the beauty of the earth.I believe I will make it to heaven some day,God willing,but I stlll don’t like to litter.

@valentino,

Why should we keep the Earth in good shape? Well, if there is no divine purpose to life and what we’ve got here on Earth is all there is, you’d want to keep the planet in good shape so you can enjoy life, which is fun and pleasant. You’d want to keep it in good shape for your children and their children and so on.

@Nimzovik,

Morals as in the “Golden Rule” is essential for survival. You do not want to be killed, so do not kill other humans unless it is the only means to prevent an unjust intruder trying to kill you. You wouldn’t like your stuff stolen, so why steal others? It causes anger and potential death. Animals even show some form of morals, thought not in a complex way, but ones that look out for the community. It’s essential for survival.

What we would remove from morals is some things we have imposed on ourselves due to some religions.

As a budding mathematician with physicist sympathies, I can tell you this is completely wrong. Some scientists reject evolution altogether, many accept it but don’t think that it some how rules out God’s involvement.

In general, Scientists are fascinated by the universe and want to know more. That’s about the only generalization you can make. I personally see the power and ability of God reflected in the awesome complexity of creation.

Think of it this way: what is more impressive: solving a sudoku puzzle, or writing a program that solves them for you? Whether God snapped His fingers and imagined us into existence, or whether He designed this wonderfully complex machine like thing with, as a purpose and known goal of producing us some time after it starts, He still is our Creator and our existence is no less meaningful. A miracle is no less miraculous because it is expected, or because it is “built in” to the miraculously created universe.

Take the Mass for example. Is it not miraculous that the bread and wine is transformed into the Body and Blood? But it happens every time. And we know it will. God set up a system by which priests can cause it to occur. It is, in its own way, a law - if a supernatural one rather than a natural one. And still extremely, awesomely miraculous. Every. Single. Time.
