Why do so many Carmelite chapels and churches have

Why do they have the Blessed Sacrament off to the side? Its very frustrating. I’m watching their vocational DVD and in all the churches and chapels they shot footage in the Lord was placed off to the side. So untasteful.

There is a valid liturgical reason, but I don’t have the sources to hand. Someone will chime in.

If you are interested in a vocation it’s probably a good thing to have a less pessimistic view of the folks you are inquiring about.😉
 
It is a very traditional way of siting (that is, placing) the tabernacle. It is prevalent in many of the churches in Europe, which are centuries old.

Exactly. There is nothing either in Church documents nor the history of Church design to suggest that front-n-centre placement of tabernacles has ever in general been much preferred to placement to one side or even in a separate side chapel. The last has the distinct advantage of the faithful being able to visit for adoration even while Mass is going on, without disrupting or being disrupted by the proceedings going on in the main body of the Church.
