Why do so many Catholics accept evolution as fact?

It uses the same mechanisms as evolution, albeit consciously directed. It shows that descendants can diverge greatly from ancestors.

But there haven’t always been wolves and elephants. At some point the first population of wolves descended from a non-wolf canid ancestor. All those breeds of dogs we were talking about descended, with our help, from ancestral wolves – as did their cousins, the modern wolves.

Current thinking is that elephants descended from creatures like this:

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gomphotherium

Those obviously have some features in common with modern elephants, but they are hardly identical.
Wolves are still producing Wolves nothing has changed yet. 😉

Yes, and creatures we call wolves may continue to perpetuate themselves for some time.

But modern wolves are not identical to their ancestors, and other branches of the family have diverged so far that we don’t call them wolves.

Evolution does not have to involve, and usually doesn’t involve, one entire population being entirely replaced by a distinct descendant population. Mostly it involves a single ancestral population giving rise to several descendant populations that are distinct from the “parent” and from each other.

Written by someone who believes in evolution .🤷
Do you only read theology books written by people who don’t believe in God? Or books about Einstein’s theory of general relativity written by people who don’t believe it?

Since you don’t seem to understand what it is that people who “believe in” evolution are actually claiming, an introduction written by someone with a grasp of the subject seems like it would be a good place to start.

Yeah, go to post #173
What about it? There is a ton of historical evidence.

Anyway, it’s come to the point where, in this topic, there’s no good for me in responding to you anymore. So I wash my hands of that.

Yes. When I want to learn about Christianity I look for pieces written by Christians. Do you want me to learn about Christianity from pieces written by atheists instead? How accurate an impression would I get of Christianity from an atheist website? Should I ignore all the words here written by people who believe in Christianity?

If you want to learn about evolution, then you need to read descriptions written by biologists.

I know how biased that page is because he sent that to me once before.

And you still don’t believe in Christianity, and I still won’t believe in Darwinism and Evolution after I read it.

If you’re simply not convinced, which points trouble you?

And for Creationism, I personally look at the entire fossil record. How do you explain it?

And it’s fair to say you’re not convinced, but make sure to realize that the best explanations of evolution will come from.evolutionists if you ever decide to look into it.

Especially given the historical record?
What historical record, there are no transitional fossils for all the animals we see today, which should have been in the millions for us to discover. ****
