you even mentioned something specific that I talked about before and that is the whole “split up” thing. If anyone posts any relationship issue whatsoever, it seems 90% of the suggestions is for the couple to split up. the logic is:
See I don’t see this at all. What I see is mostly people recommending counseling, retrovaille, or seeing a priest.a) there’s an issue
b) if there’s an issue, there must be something wrong with the relationship
c) if there’s something wrong, they should split up.
Then there have been posts where people come here saying…
my husband hits me
my wife has affairs right under my nose and doesn’t care
my husband is sexually inappropriate with my daughters
my wife is verbally abusive to the point I want to jump off a cliff
In those cases I’ve seen people say. “get away”, and I’ve been one of them. Getting away doesn’t mean divorce. I have never seen someone one CAF say, “just give up and get a divorce”, never.
And then you have people who will come here and say those things in their first post and then 10 pages later add, “oh well you don’t get it, that’s not all that’ happened”, because they realize they gave an inaccurate account of what is going on. All the posts make them THINK, and that is a good thing.
I dunno, I guess some people do try to ‘act superior’ and I’m sure some people’s tones can change (mine included), but what I see more often than superiority it simply passion, wisdom, and experience speaking. When someone is adamant and passionate about something, it’s highly likely that it’s because they have some personal experience with the topic. OR, it is a subject that is dear to them for some other reason.
