Why do so many people focus on the Devil?

In reading post on some of these threads it seems to me there is a lot of focus on the Devil. Some say Luther did the Devil’s work or if you disagree with something you belong to the Devil. Peter took his eyes offf Jesus when he was walking on water and began to sink.Should we as Christians not focus than on the Light of Jesus Christ and not the negativity of the evil one? God chose us from the beginning of time, his light is in us. I have the right to chose his light or fall into darkness. I as a Christian have chosen his Light, but yet others tell me I’m in the dark. If we see as though through a clouded glass aren’t we all in the dark? My point is this, I focus on Jesus Christ and everything else falls into place.God is in control of the Universe, not the evil one.For the pesimist I say is not the lack of love in some of these post, the Devil’s work? In the end there are three things Faith,Hope, and Love. If I don’t see things the way others do, should the not have the Faith and Hope I will see their way? Should they not have the Love that I will see? Than why is the Devil brought in by some radicals on these post when they claim to be following the teachings of Jesus Christ?

You’re right in saying that we should not focus on the devil. We should instead focus on Jesus Christ and follow Him alone.
There is one thing however that is important too: As much as Jesus Christ was aware of the devil working around Him we should be aware that the prince of this world is not asleep either.
The deceiver has thousands of years of practice with humans and he is a dangerous foe. We can however get rid of him easily if we call upon the name of the Lord (which brings us back to our main focus).

Point well taken,but I will debate that he is given alot more power than deserved. Evil did not take Jesus Christ life, he gave it freely. Yes we can be decieved,but I am the one with the power of choice. I choose! No one or nothing can make me, it is the choices I make. Evil must always bow to the name of Jesus! When Jesus was being arrested why did the Guards fall to his feet when they ask for him and Jesus answered “I am”. We as God’s children have a lot more power than we are given credit for! Nothing makes me choose sin, I have the power to choose whether I do right or wrong. It is my free choice that God gave me. All things on earth were created through Jesus Christ John1:1-5. Jesus has authority over all things.

Because the Devil is exciting to talk about. Until Christ purifies us we are always going to be somewhat flawed and cowardly, and flawed cowards admire dread power when they should admire the holy power of Christ, St. Michael, etc. Since it’s unacceptable in most circles outright venerate Satan, we settle for constantly discussing how to avoid him.

Well racing he is only given the power we give him. If we stay away from him he has no Power.

As much as I agree with you that Yes Jesus did indeed give up his life freely. I must disagree with you that it did not have to do for evil.

Because Jesus died for OUR SINS. ANd our sins are doing evil. While I agree with you we do have the choice and power to resist evil, we all still do it and commit sin. Its sad but its true.

But you must remember we have no Power. Only what is given to us from God. And while I agree with you he gives us free will, we still sin sometimes. That us why Jesus gave us the Church for forgiveness of sin. He knew we would sin!
