Why do some on this board keep posting their opinions

His disciples expressed the popular “opinions” of who Jesus was because that is what He asked of them. These opinions must have meant something to Him or He wouldn’t have asked for them. They also create a segue into what He really wanted to know “But who do you say that I am?” I,m not sure what you mean by “doctrinal”, but it certainly was the truth and it certainly was authorative, because it came from the Father. This also allows Jesus to inform His disciples that it is upon this rock (Himself) that He will build His church.

I find it somewhat ironic that you ask for peoples’ opinion on why some people keep posting their opinions.

I posted it because of some of Our muslim friends do you read any of the post or thread they start

I have heard it said by someone more learned than I that this is one of the earliest documented public opinion polls. That’s not my opinion BILL but I kind of like the thought, in my opinion. Have a good weekend.

Yes, I’m attempting to paint you into a corner. Once we censor free expression we can expect our own free expression will be censored. CAF, in my opinion, is a great model for free expression with responsibility. I think this forum really does a good job in allowing dissenting voices to be heard while mandating charity from all towards all.

So, all fine and good CAF posters - Express Yourselves! Just be charitable or you have to pay the piper.

It seems you are more concerned about the readers of the forums obtaining correct and accurate information on the Catholic Faith or on Christianity in general, and reading the various non-Catholic or non-Christian views expressed on the forum may give the wrong impression or information to the reader. That’s the breaks. That’s why there are official distributors of information (The Catechism, various documents from the Vatican, etc.) and why people make an informed decision based upon several (name removed by moderator)uts.

We don’t censor the National Inquirer because they report Bat Boy and Big Foot got married. We just allow the people to read and come to their own conclusions.

Hi Reteeks, of course it’s fine for us to share opinions, and to act as sounding-boards with others so we can test and process our thoughts and opinions, and even so that we can grow in truth. 🙂 Or if someone else experiences those growths as consequence of exchange of opinions, that’s good too!

We don’t always know what someone is reacting to and where they’re coming from when they post. But sometimes opinions that we don’t feel comfortable with help us to resolve or affirm our own positions. Ruffled feathers of one person can lead to the ruffled feathers of others and may even lead to :slapfight: It does sometimes! I just have to insert that icon every once in a while when it’s remotely appropriate, because it amuses me, and a little lightheartedness is good when any of us feel ruffled! Or I hope so!

There, that’s my quota of opinion and of tetering irrelevance for this thread.

When offering an opinion that is undermining the faith of another, one should at least be able to back up what ones says with reliable sources/arguments and cogent thinking rather than prejudices and/or assumptions, I think it is to these people that Bill refers to. If we are not careful in how we support our opinions, we subject the dialogue we wish to use as an ecumenical (and for the sake of truth) force, to blather.

The person I was talking about said Our Lord Jesus Christ did not die on the croos and lived until the age of 123. I ask for some facts and he/she said they have seen His grave and thats not a opinion its blaspheming,have a good night and may Our Lord bless you

I understood why you opened this thread, I see a lot of things that are nothing but nasty and sometimes passive/aggressive stylized comments.

The Lord bless you too (and pray for those who blaspheme him, He loves them too).
