why do some people think Catholics don't know Jesus?

When Evangelicals say someone “knows Jesus”, they do not mean typically that you know about Jesus, as you might after a good RC catechism, Bible Study class or the CA apologetics. I know about Barak Obama, but I don’t know him.

They also do not mean that you know Jesus in the sense of knowing a friend with whom you get together for coffee once a week (or, for bread and wine, to extend the analogy). I know a lot of friends but for the most part they do not substantially change my life.

No, when Evangelicals talk of “knowing Jesus”, they mean that you have had an encounter with Him and have subsequently entered a relationship with Him, based on prayer, Scripture study and participation in the life of the Church, that has so transformed your life that you will never be the same. Jesus is not just your friend; He is your source of life, your energy. He is making you by grace what he is by nature.

When you meet someone like that who “knows Jesus”, it is like meeting Jesus. You see the Fruits of the Spirit evident in their lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self control. They do not seem to sin; they don’t use bad language, drink excessively, make prideful comments or gossip. (They probably do not make rude comments on internet boards either). Most of all, they have a joy that is infectious and they can’t stop talking about Jesus.

I live in Spain and we are 99% Roman Catholic. Now, I have met a few Roman Catholics who “know Jesus” in this way that Evangelicals mean. Most are members of a movement such as the Charismatic Renewal, Opus Dei or the Kikos.
But given the RC population here, there are relatively few that I have met, unfortunately.

I have met a disproportionate number of Evangelicals who “know Jesus” in this way.

My anecdotal experience may not be typical, but it certainly makes me wonder why Roman Catholicism doesn’t work so well in practice to help us “know Jesus”.
thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I really think that we shouldn’t go by externals to see who “knows Christ” and who doesn’t. Sometimes Catholics are just quieter, that’s all.

Also, I think what you are describing is a person who is close to God…but there are others who DO know Him yet are perhaps still in the first stages of their relationship with Him.

I just think it’s a little presumptious to decide who really ‘knows’ God based on the externals…do you think that maybe the reason you see more evangelicals like this is because they are more ‘expressive’ about their faith than Catholics? that doesn’t mean that Catholics don’t have the fruits of the Spirit…they might be quietly helping their neighbours and praying for the world and spending time in prayer 🙂 many Catholics I know just don’t talk about it like evangelicals do.

so I disagree that Catholicism doesn’t ‘work so well’ in practice…it’s worked so well it’s produced Saints 🙂
Again, your and other RCs insistence on focusing on the Holy Eucharist (which I have explained previously that I by no means intend to demean) just shows that Evangelicals and Catholics have completely different ideas of what it means to “know Jesus”.

For the Evangelical, “knowing Jesus” is an inward, personal change due to conversion and absorbing God’s Word that leads to outward signs of holiness, especially the Fruits of the Spirit. You may not like this definition but I think it is basically what Non Catholics imply. Other Evangelicals may correct me.

For Roman Catholics, “knowing Jesus” means participating in the sacraments, especially the Eucharist. Less emphasis is placed on outward signs of holiness and more on the Mystery of the Eucharist and participating in the life of the Church.

I hope this is a charitable rendering of the different perspectives (in a thread notably lacking in charity, which for my part I can only ask forgiveness).
I think that’s a little incomplete, because see for us, receiving the Sacraments gives us grace to live a holy life and have the fruits of the Spirit. It also brings deeper conversion and love for God. It’s not like the Sacraments have no effect on our souls.

Well, I’m a Christian, and honestly I don’t think Catholics really KNOW Jesus. Anyone can have a relationship with Him, whether it’s a good one, or a bad one. But the way I look at it, Catholics misinterpret parts of the Bible, and they pray to Mary and other saints. God is the only one who we should be praying to, He is the only one who should be praised. So, I don’t think that a Catholic can truely know Jesus Christ as well as a Christian can. Jesus is the only one who can forgive sin, and I really see no point in going to confession, when all I have to do is pray to God, and ask him to forgive me (and truely mean it).

That’s just my looks on it…
your post shows ignorance about our faith…

when we go to Confession, it IS Jesus who’s forgiving us, not just the priest.

also, where in the Bible does it say we can’t talk to the Saints??? it says to only worship God…but prayer is not worship. Prayer is just communication. We don’t pray to the dead…the Saints are alive in Heaven with God, and we are all united by the Holy Spirit.

I think your post is very judgemental. 😦

I’ve read about the Catholic Saints who went to Confession, prayed to Mary, etc, and guess what, Jesus was everything to them, they gave up their lives for Him. No one can tell me that they didn’t love Jesus with all their hearts.

would you say that I’m deceiving myself if I think I know Christ, since I’m a Catholic?

(and btw Catholics are Christians)

The reason christians say that catholics dont really know Jesus is because of a lot of the things the catholic church teaches goes against the bible and contradicts it. Someone on here said “For Catholics, the relationship with Jesus is centered around the Eucharist. For many Protestants, it is centered around His word, through scripture.” Okay that right there should be a big sign that pops up and question mark. If you look up and study the background of the “eucharist” its actually came from the egyptians and their sun god that they worshiped called osiris. .
I stopped reading your post after that.

I feel very sad for you that you are listening to lies… please learn Catholicism from Catholics, or you’d get lots of misinformation about what we actually believe. For example, people might tell you we believe we’re re-crucifying Jesus in the Mass? and yet, we do not believe that! the Mass is a re-presentation (literally) of the one sacrifice on the Cross, 2000 years ago… not ANOTHER sacrifice.

the Eucharist is not based on the egyptian sun god…lol… even though Jack Chick says so.

the Eucharist is based on the words of our Savior when He said, “take and eat,** this is My Body”**

Can someone PLEASE explain this to me?
😦

I just read a “testimony” by someone who used to be really involved in the Catholic Church but didn’t “truly know Jesus” until he became Protestant.

I tend to hear this a lot from people…when they’re speaking either about themselves, or others.

In my experience though, I got to know God better and in a closer way once I became Catholic! Can we be any closer to Him than the Eucharist? that’s receiving Jesus physically into ourselves!

if there are Catholics who aren’t really close to God… that’s perhaps cause they weren’t properly catechized, or whatever, but it’s not because Catholicism somehow prevents people from “having a relationship with Jesus”. It doesn’t prevent…quite the contrary! those who HAVE followed the Church teachings well, became Saints…and if you read anything they wrote, it’s so obvious they were very close to God.

I just don’t understand why people say things like this and it’s really bothering me… sorry about the rant 😊
As a person who has had this experience, I can certainly verify that in my case it did have to do with being poorly catechized. For many years, I did believe that Catholicism “prevented” me from knowing the Lord, and I was very bitter, resentful, and unforgiving.

I understand if some people disagree with Catholic doctrine and think the Church is wrong on points. But they seem to go even further, and say that Catholics don't "really know" God. How come this is not said about other Protestant denominations, even though they have different doctrines too? how come Catholics don't say things like that about other Christians? even if we think their doctrines are heretical, we still admit they can be saved and know God and they're still Christians.. why all this anti-Catholicism?
I was “anti” because I was bearing resentment and unforgiveness. I blamed the Church for the misery of my personal experience. The fact was, I did not “get it” until after I left. I had poor personal role models at home, and poor role models at Catholic School, and “empty” experience at Mass.

I claimed that I had to leave because I was not “being fed” in the Catholic Church. I never learned to read the scriptures or pray on my own. I did not know anything about Bible Study till I fell in with the Baptists. I had never done any conversational prayer. Basically, I was what was mentioned here in another thread recently, Sacramentalized, but unevangelized. I was not really discipled in a way that my soul longed to be.
I have some Protestants friends who go on missions to evangelize Catholics…and bring them into “Bible believing” churches as they’re called… I hear so much about how Catholics “dont know God”, and to be honest, it’s just gotten to the point that it’s both puzzling and hurtful.

thanks for reading my rant…lol
You are fortunate to have had the experience of knowing the Lord personally while being Catholic. There is a whole generation of us (post Vatican 2) who were fed pungent organic matter and new age drivel. It is no wonder so many became “cafeteria catholics”.

It took me a long time to come back (over 20 years) and I had to spend 3 years in a Protestant Seminary in order to study myself back to the Truth. I will always be grateful to my separated brethren for providing me with role models that lived what they claimed to believe, studied and prayed their scriptures, and taught me how to pray spontaneous prayers.

I still go to Mass and am routinely disappointed by poor homiletics. It does not disturb me as it did before because I have Immaculate Heart Radio and Fr. Corapi now, and I read and study the daily liturgy myself, and don’t depend upon the clergy to “feed” it to me.

One last thought on the many Catholics that leave because they are not “fed” at Mass. I think this condition speaks to the spiritual state of the person in the pew. One can “starve” at Mass, even if one goes every day. This can happen when one approaches Eucharist in a state of mortal sin. The liturgy becomes empty, rote, unsanctifying ritual because one’s heart is not right with God. People in that condition get “itching ears” and want to go elsewhere in search of some teaching that will “meet their needs” and not “condemn” them for living in sin.

**Who does the Masters will? Believer or unbeliever Who does not do the Masters will? Believer or unbeliever? This is a question of obedience to God.

Search to see if this is true and may God bless your eyes.**
Are you saying that all believers do nothing but the will of God? Are you saying that all non-believers are not capable of doing the will of God? Using that logic, all believers (I guess true believers) are perfect while all non-believers are not capable of love or charity. Is that how you see it? Can you not see the possibility of a believer not following the Word of God? Please expound.

Romans 8 -
14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God

It is true; it is exactly as God has said. Perhaps you are lacking something?
It is you that is lacking the fullness of the truth. AND lacking the knowledge and history of the Catholic church. Another Protestant here with the big “C” and the little “c”. What is it with you people that you keep saying this? There is only ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC, AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH, THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. ALL one “C”. geez…🤷 :banghead:

You have great faith however misguided. I have no doubts because God knows me and He knows my heart, for He drew me to Him and I came to Him on His terms; not because of a religious affiliation or some phony confessional, but on His terms as it is written.

May God bless you and reveal to you what He demands and may He call you.
I affirm that you are sincere in your faith. Why do say “phony confessional”? Do you really believe that the Catholic experience of the confession is “phony”?

As a sinner, shouldn’t you be even a little concerned that God knows your heart-your impure heart? Nothing that is impure can enter Heaven. So how are you, a sinner, so sure of your salvation?

Because God told you? He told you that you salvation is possible, but that it isn’t guaranteed. Can you not accept that? I think a strong faith in God’s truth and mercy should be enough. Why insist on reworking the deal, holding out for a guarantee that isn’t written into the contract (covenant).

God tells us that he’ll never abandon us. He hasn’t told us that he won’t let us abandon Him. He leaves us with free will, even after conversion, because he leads and doesn’t coerce.
A lot of evangelicals confuse God’s love (from which nothing can separate us) with salvation. The Truth is that God loves us so much He will let us walk away from Him if we choose to do so.

The refusal to accept that salvation is not attained in this life is actually a reflection of spiritual immaturity. People need to cling to the childish belief that they cannot be lost, to give themselves a sense of security. It is really a way of one’s trust falling short of God.

Phil 3:13-16
13 Brethren, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but one thing I do, forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let those of us who are mature be thus minded; and if in anything you are otherwise minded, God will reveal that also to you. 16 Only let us hold true to what we have attained.

The Apostles taugtht that we have been, are being, and will be saved. This attitude of not considering salvation our own, pressing on, and leaving judgement to God is described by the Apostles as “mature”.

1 Cor 4:3-5
I do not even judge myself. 4 I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me. 5 Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then every man will receive his commendation from God.

The mature Christian, as you have correctly observed, does not presume to know even his own heart. The heart is deceitful above all things, and only the Lord knows those things hidden in darkness. Modern science calls this the “unconscious”. As fervent as our separated brethren may be, they do not have the ability to know what is in the unconscious. God made it that way. We must rely completely upon Him to bring those things to light.

Romans 11 - (Paul)
20 Quite right, they were broken off for their unbelief, {Speaking of Israel} but you stand by your faith. (His true children) Do not be conceited, but fear; 21 for if God did not spare the natural branches {Israel}, He will not spare you, either. 22 Behold then the kindness and severity of God; to those who fell, severity, but to you, God’s kindness, if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off. 23 And they also, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.

Things worth noting in this passages ; There are four sets of groups here 1) unbelieving Israel 2) believing individual Jews (ones that are grafted in again) 3) unbelieving people He is speaking to 4) believing individuals he is speaking to
Never in the Bible will you see unbelieving a description of a believer or in direct reference to believers. One would, based on what they have seen and know to be true in the church they attend, have to be blind, ignorant and just plain stupid not to realize there are many people that made a profession, are exposed to the gospel message, are working next to Christians and seen the love of Christ in those, participated in church activities, then walk away and you never see them again. These are not believers; they walk away in unbelief. All this exposure to the truth, yet walk away. What was missing? No change in heart, no dealing with sins, no indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Is this not exactly what the Bible describes as “falling away”; of course it is and we have used similar terms to describe people that hung around for a year or two and never seen or heard of again.
No, Tanner, this is NOT “exactly what the Bible describes”. Your interpretation is flawed for several reasons. For one, the letter is written to believers. You cannot interpolate your modern day experience of unbelievers in Church into the first century church. In the first century, the church was persecuted,a nd it was illegal to be a Christian. Non -believers were not permitted in the assembly.

Second, one cannot “fall away” from something one never had. Those who have not been grafted it cannot be “cut off”. Paul is warning the believers (those that have been grafted in by faith) that they can also be cut off for unbelief, just as the Jews were. this is apostasy. Your assertion that they were never “true believers” is false.

As you may be aware but seem not to understand or be able to pull it all together in your mind, there are always tares among the wheat…right? Are tares saved or unsaved? Are tares exposed to the truth? Do they participated in Heavenly things the church does tasting and observing heavenly gifts wrought in the believers? Can they hang around a long time? Do they often participate in kingdom causes? Can you tell the tare from the wheat? Did they make a profession of Christ?

Clearly the writer of Hebrews is addressing those who have been “partakers of His grace” and have “tasted of the heavenly gift”. These references apply only to believers. Of such, that fall away, Jesus says they are near to their end, which is to be burned.
Could the parable of the soils be a description of the tares? 3 maybe; the 2nd and 3rd for sure.
Indeed yes. We see that the seed was sprouted in 75% of these. The kingdom was planted, and started to grow.
When things get severe; any remaining tares will all be gone and what do you have left in a persecuted church; a pure earthly church.
Yes. This is one of the ways we know that the letters of the NT were not addressed to “tares”.
If you cannot persevere to the end, then you never had God in you; for He is the one that has the capacity to endure.
Such a statement is not consistent with the scriptures or the teaching of the Apostles. The parable of the soils also makes it clear that the seed did sprout in most of the cases, though in 50 % did not persist. Jesus gives reason they did not persist.
Human effort will always fail in this regard; “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me;”
Amen! 👍 When Catholics talk about “working out salvation” this is what is meant.
Until you are able to let go off the false belief that justification and sanctification are not two sides of the same coin, you will never get past the A,B,C’s.

Justification and Salvation are two sides of the same coin; one is the positive side and the other the negative.
Well, are they, are are they not?

The Apostles did not separate sanctification from justification. this did not occur until the Reformation. Man made traditions were invented that separated them out.

Even your own Reformed doctrine teaches the “golden chain of salvation” where sanctification is not separated from justification.
Justified; made righteous before God by the imputation of Christs righteousness (forgiven of all sins and the penalty of such). Salvation; saved from something. Saved from what? Sin and the just penalty of that sin.
It is possible for a person to be justified, then return to the sin from which he was saved.

There are two paths that are both marked Heaven, but only one actually goes there. You either enter by the wide gate with all your religious baggage, like the pharisees and their following and with all your religious friends or you enter by the narrow gate, which admits one at a time and no baggage allowed, like the Publican in Luke 18.

Do you really think God and the apostles were advocating, promoting and building the Roman Catholic Church?

Blessings.
**YES…because Jesus tells us so. Everything was Catholic in belief 2,000 years ago and is the same way now. You interpret to what you want the bible to say. You don’t listen to Christ’s teachings. Especially the gift of the Eucharist. **

OK Tanner, we now know you are good at quoting Scripture. What would you have done, lets say in the year 200 - WHEN the NEW TESTAMENT SCRIPTURE HAD NOT YET BEEN COMPILED?
Actualy what he is good at is cu n pasting scipture verses, telling us what they “mean” and then expressing indignation when we dont accept his personal interpetation of them If one wanted to put togehter a textbook of the absurdity of Sola Scriptura his posts to this thread would be more than enough to fill it.

Well, if you had been a Christian, you would have been receiving the teachings of Jesus Christ through the oral word and the tradition that had been handed down from the early fathers of the Church. I can tell that you are truly seeking God and I will pray for you on your journey. God bless you too!
God bless you and I will pray the same.

Romans 15:1-6
1 Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not {just} please ourselves. 2 Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification. 3 For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “THE REPROACHES OF THOSE WHO REPROACHED YOU FELL ON ME.” 4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
5 Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, 6 so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

You see; it is all of God?

Philippians 1
6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus…11 having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Perfect = epiteleō;
to bring to an end, accomplish, perfect, execute, complete

Luke 1 -
"Blessed {be} the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people,
redemption = lytrōsis
  1. a ransoming, redemption
  2. deliverance, esp. from the penalty of sin
Acts 13:38-41
38 "Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, 39 and **through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses. **40 "Therefore take heed, so that the thing spoken of in the Prophets may not come upon you:

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

41 `BEHOLD , YOU SCOFFERS, AND MARVEL, AND PERISH ;

FOR I AM ACCOMPLISHING A WORK IN YOUR DAYS,

A WORK WHICH YOU WILL NEVER BELIEVE, THOUGH SOMEONE SHOULD DESCRIBE IT TO YOU.’ "

Lord; please bless “Kalt” that he/she may know You and You know him/her according to your sovereign will…amen
God gives us every good thing. But we are imperpect in all of it. Why do you suppose that you have perfect perseverance?

Next you will be telling me that water baptism saves a person, which would contradict the nature of God on how He redeems the remnant, which is the same way in the OT as the NT; faith alone. Romans 10 is the discussion on the whole thing;
Yes, of course! We are obligated to hold fast to the teaching of the Apostles, which is that we are saved when we are born again through water and Spirit in baptism.

Baptism is not offered by the Church without a profession of faith, though. However, faith is never “alone”. It is always accompanied by the works that God has prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them, and by hope, and charity. It abides eternally with this, of which the greatest is love. Have you never wondered, Tanner, why the Apostles taught that love was the greatest, if “faith is alone”.?
will confirm what every other place in the Bible teaches on the purpose of water baptism. Consider the infant; first they are not immersed, which in the basic sense of the word baptizō “to immerse” “to submerge”; sprinkling is not immersion is it?
The Bible reflects what the Apostles taught, which is that we are saved “through water”, just as those persons of faith in the OT. Peter even gives specific examples of this.

Yes, immersion is the fullest sign of baptism. However, no one is 'sprinkled". If there is not enough water to immerse, it is poured over the candidate. Sprinkling is used during various liturgies to remind us of our baptismal promises and the many gifts bestowed upon us when we were saved by the HS circumcising our hearts.
Water baptism is a command; it is the public proclamation of the believers association with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.
It is a command, and our separated brethren use it as a “public proclamation”. However, this is not an Apostolic teaching. Personally, I don’t think there is anything wrong with it, any more than there is nothing wrong with altar calls (in spite of the fact that the communities have no “altar”. But in Apostolic times, and for 300 years after, baptisms were all done in secret, because it was a captial offense. They were only done in the presence of believers, so there was no point of a “public proclamation” other than to get martyred.
In fact to believe that water baptism can remove any sin; is to deny the cross sufficiency to fully impute Christ’s righteousness to the believer. Denying, even part, of the work on the cross in any manner is denying the sufficiency of Jesus.
I am sure it seems this way to a person who does not understand baptism. Contrary to what you believe, though, it is BECAUSE of Jesus’ all sufficient sacrifice on the cross that we can be joined with Him in his death and resurrection through baptism. In baptism " you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

No one is cleansed, justified and sanctified apart from the HS, who is the one who circumcises our hearts. In baptism the HS clothes us with Christ, so that we can become His righteousness.

Gal 3:27-28
27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

It is only by grace, through faith, that we are able to “put on Christ”.

Our Reformed brethren also agree with this, but they separate the water from the Spirit in a way the Apostles did not.
Which is the Baptism where God actually dwells in a believer and before He can actually and really dwell He must cleanse and make you a holy and undefiled temple to dwell in?
  1. Water 2) Holy Spirit or 3) Fire Which is it Church?
They are not separated, Tanner. Jesus has merged them together in Himself. For Christians, there is only ONE BAPTISM!

Eph 4:4-6
There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call, 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of us all, who is above all and through all and in all.

The water, HS, fire, suffering are all elements of the ONE BAPTISM. If you are going to try to extract doctrine from scripture, instead of receiving it from the Apostles, at least try to account for all the Scriptures! If you do that, you will be much closer to what the Apostles actually believed and taught.
When you say the whole household; where does it say that the household had small children or infants?
Are you suggesting that these Jewish households did not have them? Honestly!
Or have you imposed on the Word again? Furthermore; the whole household that would be baptized would also have to hear the gospel message and come to repentance and accept Jesus as both Lord and Savior. The fact that it says the whole household was baptized assumes automatically they were told about the gospel and they believed what they had heard. Praise God that the entire household believed!
I agree, and I think that households followed the choice of the head of the house, and that baptism was given to everyone, infants, children, slaves etc.
Does an infant have the ability to make that free-will decision? Nothing more needs to be said to put such a notion to rest.
I suppose this is true for a person who does not understand that baptism replaced circumcision as the entrance rite into the Kingdom. For those that accept this teaching of the Apostles, there is no reason to withhold it from infants and children, and complete precedent.

Back to the topic, do you think the promises that parents make to raise their children in the faith prove that Catholics do not “know the Lord”?

You are in agreement and prove yourself guilty as well; repent in the Name of the Lord Jesus. I gave you both what God said in his word and by mocking what I gave; you mock the One who said it. No one has refuted, nor can they refute the truth; that is why it is the truth.

May God help all of you mockers of the truth; for His namesake. Where is the fear of the Lord?
How do you define “fear of the Lord”?

It seems that no one is mocking the word of God. They are mocking your interpretation of it.

Mocking is not a nice thing to do, but when you are the one who got the ball rolling, you can hardly run to the principal and complain that someone else is giving you a little of what you’ve been handing out.

Boy you are WAY outta line there. The reason for that confessional is because that is how the Lord Jesus Christ and His apostles set it up to begin with. Catholic Confession and Scriptures About Penance, all of which is found right there in the Word of God in spite of the errant modern teachings of men that you have been misled by.

For someone who asserts that you know God and that He knows you, you certainly lack common Christian charity and civility in your discourse with us Catholics. Is that sort of attitude supposed to inspire us to want the religion that you have? :p:shrug:
**People have always been hostile toward and offended by the truth of my Lord Jesus; just as it it written.

There cannot be a “confessional booth” or any other type of confessional, except for the Biblical format, which is directly to the Father, the Apostolic way!

If you can’t stand the truth of the Word of God, then stay where you appear to be. i can’t say for sure, but God does know for sure.

It does not have to be that way for anyone, but only God and He alone can turn a heart of stone into a heart of flesh.

As far as your civility and charitable discourse; my words and their words speak tell the true story. Out of the heart the mouth speaks.

God bless and good to hear from you again.**

We agree on that; for it would be like Jesus severing His own head; since He is the Head of the true church of God, which is the body of Christ, which will be revealed on the “day of the Lord”.

Do you really believe the Roman Pontiff is the head of God’s church?

God bless you and your family this day. 🙂
Head of the Church on earth.

Really Tanner? Better look again…how many times did Our Lord say to his apostles and disciples, Matthew 6:30And if the grass of the field, which is today, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, God doth so clothe: how much more you, O ye of little faith?

So now those that have “little faith”, maybe the size of a “mustard” seed are equivalent to “nonbelievers”? How ignorant of Scripture; **even the least able person can distinguish the difference between little faith and the faith of an unbeliever, which is ZERO FAITH. **

Furthermore; Jesus was speaking to His disciples, the apostles, and you implied they were unbelievers. What will you Catholic brethren think if they see what you wrote here; I believe most would be able to make a connection here as to the truth; I am confident in this.

You did not actually address the issue AGAIN; always side stepping, but when confronted to the pure truth of the God’s word; what can you and your father do but flee?

Don’t take my word or anyone’s word for anything, as I know you do not, but you should search the Scripture as the Bereans to see if these things are so.
You seek to infer that someone you are talking to here might be a tare…yet the fact is that those are they who have not remained faithful and have turned back to their sins.
You assume too much; remember I am obedient and fully trust in what God has said and believe He meant what He said; therefore I do not presume who is a tare for the Lord said the Angles will separate the tares from the wheat when He gives the command because we do not know who is a tare; and the Father may decide to change the tare into wheat; and this is my prayer for all tares.
The truly sad part of this is that n-Cs like you are the same ones who get after us Catholics because we reject Sola Fide. You will tell us that all we need to do to (as you put it) "come to God on His terms" is to confess with our lips the Lord Jesus in order to be saved, yet you just indicted thiose very people who had confessed Christ.
Again you are being presumptuous; perhaps because it is how you really feel. I love all people and have a special fondness for the Catholic people; many are in my own immediate family. It is the doctrines that I take issue with, not the people. I feel the same even concerning the Pope.

Please refrain from making false assumptions and twisting my words, as an example you sated above: "come to God on His terms" is to confess with our lips the Lord Jesus in order to be saved,. I would never tell anyone that “just believe and say you do and you will be saved”. That is ridiculous and an intentional way to distract from the truth, but this is the way one resorts when confronted with the truth.

Romans 10:9-11
9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus {as} Lord, and **believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; ** 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED."

What does the Scripture teach and so you and other can know exactly what “to believe” means, then I suggest and highly encourage you spend 30 minutes reading or 45 minutes listening to one of the most comprehensive, from a Biblical perspective, sermons on exactly what “believe entails” or as the title states “True Belief”.

**Great, then you prove God is a liar and that He cannot keep His promises, which I have clearly demonstrated through His word, which no one is able to refute in spirit and truth. therefore you continue to throw the fiery darts, you believe are at me, but not so.

May God of Heaven and all things on earth bless you.**
Please! We have all given you the Scripture verses that refute every one of your statements.

But, since you insist on using your “baker’s dozen” Bible, you are unable to see the correct position on all of the topics we have been discussing.
