This is one of the questions I’ve always wondered about because Jesus fulfilled all of the prophesies about the Messiah. I’m in the process of reading the book “Cinderella Church - The Story of Early Christianity” – it’s somewhat complicated but my understanding is that the first Christians were actually Jews. There seemed to be a problem with their dietary laws and circumcision and the early believers in Jesus – it is an interesting book and I may have a better idea about the Jewish rejection of Jesus after I finish it.

The true Jews has received Jesus as the Christ. Please consider reading Romans chapters 2, 9, 10 and 11 to get the biblical answer.

Yes, this has been discussed to death. Before posting a query, it is a good idea to search for current or old threads that cover a question.
My understanding is that most Jews of that time who knew of Jesus considered him a Rabbi, a teacher. I have heard the same in recent years, but am not sure how widely accepted that is. Jesus did not then, nor does not now, fit the “standard” Jewish definition of a Messiah. Nor did the events surrounding the life and death of Jesus fit the beliefs of what would happen when the Messiah arrived. Most Christians are not aware of that.
Connecting Jesus with the Jewish Messiah was really done by a small group who remained practicing Jews but advocated for the belief that Jesus was the Messiah. James and the Jerusalem church he led were at the center of that. After the destruction of the Temple and the city, and the growth of the Christian churches formed by Paul and other evangelists, which contained a growing number of gentiles, the belief that Jesus was the divine Son of God took precedence.
One can see this progression of thinking in the Gospels. In Mark, Jesus talks about the Messiah in the third person several times, and mostly teaches about the Kingdom of God, rather than His Kingdom. By the time we get to the Gospel of John, Jesus as the divine, eternal Son of God is firmly established. It is interesting to note that John’s Gospel is the most anti-Jewish of the four. It almost reads like John is saying: “You Jews rejected the Messiah and now He’s ours…nah nah nah.” And most of the Jews at that time, who know what their Messiah will be like, are going: “Huh? What are they talking about?”

My opinion is that to a great degree its because of the influence of the unseen ‘spirit of antichrist’. This afflicts many peoples including Jews. There are those Jews (not all) who are decidedly antichristian…the Antichristian Jews.
1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1 John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

This thread makes no sense. The disciples and the early church were Jews. One of the first Gentile was that Centurion named Cornelius.

Jews expect Messiah to come and rule as King, to restore Israel, and to bring peace to the nations. Jesus did not do those things while on earth, even though He did fulfil many Messianic prophecies such as being a descendant of David, being born in Bethlehem, entering Jerusalem on a donkey, and suffering for His people (though Jews would deny that His crucifixion atoned for sins).
Christians and Jewish believers in Jesus would respond that Jesus often spoke of His second coming, when He would fulfil all these things, whatever is left for Him to fulfil, such as restoring and reiging in Jerusalem and over all the world, bringing peace, etc.

Well what about Jeremiah 31:31 which reads:
31 “Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a **new covenant **with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them,[a] says the LORD. 33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
