Why do they worship differently?

I used to think all the frantic running about during the “Sign of Peace” was abusive. Funny, I don’t see that much in other churches, maybe just a couple, when “Please stand and greet those around you” becomes a mosh pit. (I’m dating myself)
Yes - I try to overlook minor things like people getting carried away at the sign of peace…Like it was said - tolerance…
but as I said, there have been some pretty horrendous liturgical abuses discussed on these forums. Some clips can even be found on YouTube. Things like “clown mass”, so called “liturgical dancing” by scantily clad girls etc…

Hence my reference to nausea among some of the folks who post on CAF.

Yes -
Now weekday mass I’m good with just going “as is”. I think if these masses as more “workman” (and women;)) masses. Years ago there was usually a mass a 6 or 6:30 AM and if people could, they would attend before work…
Of course this was a the days of the Latin mass and it would be a “low” mass…no music - no homily - nothing fancy.
This very early mass seems to have gone away…
I don’t know of any parishes near me who have such an early weekday mass - ours is at 8:30 am.

Anyway - Weekday masses I’m good with casual (to a point :D), Sunday mass - time to dress up.

Happy Easter

Peace
James
My parish still has one - 6:30 and 9 am every weekday morning, except during summer months when there is only the 9am Mass. It must be pretty well-attended since they are still having it! (But we are in a pretty populated suburban area not too far from a major corporate center.)

I have a thing about men not wearing hats in church- but that’s in Scripture.
I attended an outdoor service today which was nice except the sun was right in my face. Rather than put my stetson back on, I moved my folding chair over to the shade. It wasn’t long before a number of others joined me there.
As far as getting really dressy, it is nice. I usually wear a collared shirt and bolo tie (Western!) and my dressier boots. In winter I’ll wear a dress jacket.
I do admire the Pentecostal preacher look.
Finally- I’ll be attending Cowboy Church at the rodeo next weekend. I don’t expect to see many fellows dressed in Armani there.
Have you seen Cowboys and Indians? It’s kind of a western fashion mag! I can afford nothing in the magazine. Like $5.000 hats with sterling hat bands.
