Why do we add a doxology onto the end of the Our Father?

Hello: Re the following doxology often used at the end of the Our Father “Kingdom and the power and the glory are Yours now and forever, Amen”. Protestants recite it as part of the prayer. In the Catholic liturgy, we recite it, but after the priest’s prayer…seperate from the Our Father. It is not in the two scriptures where Jesus gives us the Our Father. Where does it come from and why was it added?

Thank you and God bless
