During a Holy Hour we say a litany of saints brfore benediction. Why is this the tradition? Does anyone know the purpose behind this?
Thanks
Julie

I have never heard of a litany of saints during a holy hour but rather the usual formula calls for the Divine Praises. So, this could just be a pius devotion that is particular to your parish.

your parish may be using one of the guides published for 40 hours devotions. We use one such pamphlet for holy hours, it includes morning and evening prayer, which we use if the time is appropriate, and several litanies, as well as the traditional prayers and hymns for exposition, reposition, the Divine Praises and Benediction. We just choose what is appropriate for the time allotted. We have an adoration chapel open during parish office hours, but added a monthly “formal” holy hour for the Year of the Eucharist (weekly in Advent and Lent), hope we keep it up in the coming year.
