Why do we say that he rose "again"?

In Mass we say that Christ died, and on the third day He rose again from the dead.

We know Christ didn’t rise twice, so the “again” doesn’t mean more than once. So, does “rose again” mean “returned to life”? Or should the passage be read with a pause, as in “…and on the third day He rose, again from the dead… .”?

Is this use of “again” an infelicitous translation into English?
 
Hi,

It;s just a figure of speach as when we say that the man fell down and got up again. We don’t mean by this that he fell twice.
