Hello Mary
I just went through a series of posts with MelanieAnne which went absolutely nowhere for the simple reason that she felt compelled to throw out unfounded accusations. I am not willing to go through that again. I sense in you at least a willingness to be sincere. If we are to have any discourse at all I’m setting done one rule and that is that there be NO ACCUSATIONS OF ANY KIND. That includes calling each other prideful. If you agree we can continue, If not, Have a nice day.
In Christ Richard
Scripture states repeatedly that Jesus established a Church-
“And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and other some evangelists, and other some pastors and doctors, For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”— Eph.4:11,12
Scripture clearly states that Peter was its first leader
“And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.”— Mt. 16:18,19
The Church has the Authority of Jesus
“We are of God. He that knoweth God, heareth us. He that is not of God, heareth us not. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.”— 1 Jn. 4: 6
“Obey them that have the rule over you and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.”— Heb. 13: 17
"These things speak, and exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.— Titus 2:15
“Take heed to yourselves and to the whole flock, wherein the Holy Ghost hath placed you bishops, to rule the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood”— Acts 20:28
Ther early Church writings historically support the authority and its hierachy. Pope Clement the 2nd Pope ( who is also mentioned in the scriptures)
“Owing to the sudden and repeated calamities and misfortunes which have befallen us, we must acknowledge that we have been somewhat tardy in turning our attention to the matters in dispute among you, beloved, and especially that abominable and unholy sedition, alien and foreign to the elect of God, which a few rash and self-willed persons have inflamed.” “Accept our counsel and you will have nothing to regret. . . . If anyone disobey the things which have been said by him [God] through us *, let them know that they will involve themselves in transgression and in no small danger.” “You will afford us joy and gladness if being obedient to the things which we have written through the Holy Spirit, you will root out the wicked passion of jealousy” (Letter to the Corinthians 1:1, 58:2-59:1, 63:2 [A.D. 80]).
PRIESTS
Acts 14:23 And when they had ordained to them priests* in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, in whom they believed.

THe very act of reading involves interpretation. If each person was given the Holy Spirit to interpret the scriptures- why do so many disagree? Does the Holy Spirit teach different and opposing truths?? NO. The scriptures do not support independant interpretations- on the contrary:
“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.”—2 Peter 1:20
“And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, understandest thou what thou readiest? And he said, How can I except some men should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.”— Acts 8, 30-31
HIS CHURCH IS ETERNAL “And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and other some evangelists, and other some pastors and doctors, For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Until we all meet into the unity fo faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the age of the fulness of Christ;”----Eph. 4:11-13
So which came first - the Church or The Bible? The Church… which in turn gave us this Bible as a teaching tool.
With study you will find that the very Church you attack is the Bride of Christ entrusted with all TRUTH. As each denomination succumbs to the lies of this world such as birht control abortion acceptance of homosexual behaviour… you can watch as only His Church the unified - Catholic- Church- will withstand it. Why? Becuase God promised to keep it safe. It will stand through the ages as it has.
Try to look into it with an open mind- you will not learn of the beauties of Japan from a Chinaman and you will not learn of the beauty of this Church from one who hates it.
In Him-
