Why Do Women Even Want To Be Priests?

I am not trying to convince you in any way. I am simply offering the courtesy of explaining why I have serious doubts about the claim that God has chosen this as a permanent rule. All the evidence, from my point of view, is human, rather than divine. And, as I said, I am especially suspicious of selecting only SOME of Jesus’s behaviors as permanent axioms when neither God nor Jesus is ever attributed as saying or commanding so, and when the rule tends to continue the power and authority of those already in power. That is an all-too-familiar human hegemonic behavior from my readings of patriarchy.

But my suspicions do not need to be shared by anyone else. That’s ok by me! 👍
Then I shall leave you with you suspicious, which seem to me to be based on less that the all of the facts.

As the Catholic giving her “a hard time” I take exception to that!

Blueshadow has yet to show any evidence of how she knows “many priests” own their own homes.

(Unless you call “my dad’s family is Catholic” and “I have a lot of Catholic friends” evidence that the priest’s name is on the mortgage? :D)
And the motive of you point is …what? …to prove that she doesn’t know priests and whether or not they own homes? I guess you’ve never heard of public records and the fact that most of them are available online now. The truth is that many priest do own their own homes. But that does not imply most. Many to her could be a few compared to the 10 she knows, as an example. If she’s said anything beyond that it is a different issue. My father knew a lot of priests. She also may be a lapsed Catholic or one that was never catechized or brought to mass on a regular basis. My aunt’s, Christian, also know many priests and some bishops. That doesn’t meant anything other than what it is. So I really don’t understand. I haven’t read the entire thread and really just don’t feel up to it being this long. I was only speaking to her. I don’t know you so I am silent on that matter. I just thought I’d add my funky logic as an explanation for my choice of words.

To prove that she was misstating a fact about Catholic priests.

Her statement, “I know of many priests who live in houses that are near the church, some not even owned by the church” was false, misleading, mistaken, unproven and just plain ignorant of Catholicism.

That’s my pet peeve here on the CAFs–people, especially ex-Catholics (I was an altar server! with an uncle who was a priest!), who have no clue about what the Catholic Church actually teaches or how it lives out its traditions.

And I would gladly have submitted to Blueshadow if she had indeed stated she had checked the public records of these alleged “many priests” she knew of.

She did not. 🤷
The truth is that many priest do own their own homes. But that does not imply most.
Fair enough.
Many to her could be a few compared to the 10 she knows, as an example.
Again, I doubt she knew anything about whose names were on the mortgages of these “many priests” she knows. It was an assumption on her part, pure and simple. And an uninformed one at that.
If she’s said anything beyond that it is a different issue.
She said quite a bit beyond that, clearly.
She also may be a lapsed Catholic or one that was never catechized or brought to mass on a regular basis.
Clearly.

Oh my gosh. Do you have a a disorder like OCD? I’m sorry but I have asked you NUMEROUS times to get off the subject. I am NOT lying, I DO know priests who own their own houses and you keep trying to refute it. Maybe if you were me, you would know what I was talking about.

**How the heck do you expect me to prove this online?
**
Maybe its time you move on and quit making your stupid assumptions that are just PLAIN WRONG.

I am convinced, you are a total troll. I’m glad Larkin told me to ignore you. You are a waste of time. Believe what you want, but I know I’m right.

What do you even expect? Me to give you their full names, addresses, phone numbers? You are creeping me out a little about how hung up on this you are. Time to drop it. I seriously am done addressing this issue. I am taking larkins advice. Good bye! :tsktsk:

Precisely.

Susie will be more happy somewhere else. Moreover conservative Catholics will be happier if feminists inside the Church simply leave instead of trying to reform the Church.
But religion, being about Truth, is not about making someone “more happy”. If the happiness is not grounded in Truth, then it’s just an illusory pursuit.

Once you are grounded in Truth, you will find happiness.

Thus Susie won’t be happy elsewhere.
