There is zero evidence of vampires while there is a ton of evidence of Satanic possessions and demons, both in medical and religious documents.
People who believe in vampires are rare comparing to those who believe in demons, “demonic possessions” always hit the religious, it has other names, descriptions and meds in medical, many mental disorders were considered demonic possessions by society when no scientific answer and progress were there to explain or deal with them.

You might appreciate the book ‘The Screwtape Letters’ by C. S. Lewis…?

It is a favorite of mine. It is both creative genius, as a fiction, and rich in discernment regarding spiritual activity. Lewis is a respected Christian among Catholics and non-Cats alike. His ability to articulate the faith through story telling can be quite intriguing.

This is very true. For the view of an expert on the subject anyone who doubts the existence of the devil might look at psychiatrist Scott Peck’s book People of the Lie.

Peck, who had no conviction whatever that the devil exists, was invited to participate in several exorcisms. His attitude changed very much toward belief. His account of meeting the devil in those possessed by him was chilling to read, to say the least.

Peck is also the author of the classic The Road Less Traveled.

He has never been asked, to my knowledge, to verify the existence of vampires. Nor do I believe that anyone in his profession has been asked.

We might keep in mind that the devil does not want us to believe in him any more than he wants us to believe in God. That way he can be the Trojan Horse inside our souls, secretly filling us up with his lies.

I recognize my parents as my creator. I reject the concept of an eternal soul, or the concept of a soul altogether. I view the soul as another claim without evidence.
I often hear elderly people say that inwardly, they still feel like they’re in their 20’s.

Now that I am getting older, I too, inwardly still feel young.

To me, that is personal evidence that the body and soul are two different things. The body is one thing and is aging, but the soul is always the same. They are separate.

The bible says that the apostles observed the resurrected Jesus. The resurrected Jesus physically showed himself to Saul? Why is Saul worthy of that kind of evidence, but we in the 2nd-21st centuries do not get such evidence?
I think it’s pretty easy to answer this. Jesus physically showed himself to Saul because he needed Saul to evangelize in the early days of Christianity. Paul indeed became the Great Evangelizer.

Now that Christianity is thus established, God doesn’t need to manifest himself in such obvious ways, and God gives us just enough light to find him, if we are looking for him, but not too much light that we would be compelled to believe against our desires.

The point is that there is no scientific evidence that spirits (or Gods) do exist.
Why would we use science, whose job is to explain the material world, to provide evidence for a non-material concept?

That’s like demanding that we use poetry to explain how the spleen filters our blood. Why would we want to use poetry for something outside its realm?

You appear to be making empirical demands vis-a-vis a non-empirical subject.

That is the view of scientism: nothing but science can prove any truth.

It is a narrowness of intellect that intellect prides itself on. Heartless intellect, that is.

Have a Texan-style Happy New Year, C3!

(BTW–why Charlegmagne III? Are you the same person as C2 and C1?)
I am. I was out of the loop for several months with heart surgery and recovery, and when I tried to get back in I was told I had an invalid password, so I re-registered as Charlemagne III. Lost credit for several thousand posts, but that’s o.k. by me. 👍

Ah. Well, welcome back, C3! 🙂

Glad you’re recovering and glad you’re back. You keep things interesting and it’s good to have your contributions to the dialog again.

Yeah Charlemagne III certainly brings lots of surprises to this discussion. 🙂

Happy Belated New Year ThinkingSapien 👍

Thank you all for the welcome back! 😃

I’ve also had cataract surgery in one eye (now 20-20 vision) and surgery for the other eye next Tuesday. Have started using the quote function now, I see so well.

God bless everybody, and especially anyone who doesn’t believe in Him. 👍

Ah, that explains it. I was wondering I found it were really you since you were quoting instead of copying and pasting. My father had the same surgery; the before and after are like night and day.

LOL, thank you very much ffor wishing us all well.

The Lord said, “Let there be light.”

The surgeon asked if I would like him to pray over me before the operation. He did. A heartfelt prayer from a Christian doctor. I am so blessed to see again.

Almost sounds like the neurosurgeon Dr. David Levy MD, who authored the book “Gray Matter … A Neurosurgeon Discovers the Power of Prayer One Patient at a Time”
