Why do you call Mary "ever-virgin"?

Why do you call Mary “ever-virgin”? According to Matthew 12:46-49 and John 19:25-26 [BIBLEDRB][/BIBLEDRB]]she was the mother of John, James, Joses, judas, and Simon plus two daughters one named Solome. So “ever-virgin” makes no sense to me if she had six other children. They definitely were not of God so she must have consummated her marriage(es)? 🤷
