If you were an Englishman and you were in the presence of the Queen, who is also the Head of the Church of England (a Popess, as it were) would you bow down to the Queen? Many Evangelicals in the Low Church (part of the Church of England) bow to the queen. They also have to move backward when leaving the presence of the Queen. The English love tradition and maybe we Catholics also love tradition. Remember the song Tevye sang in Fiddler on the Roof? – TRADITION 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

***Yesh ha’Meshiach is the name of our Lord in Hebrew, and He was and is a Davidic King, and His Kingdom was and is a Davidic Kingdom. Since the first Davidic Kingdom had a Prime Minister and Queen Mother, doesn’t it stand to reason that the Davidic Kingdom founded by the “Son of David” and Lord of all wouldn’t also have a Prime Minister and Queen Mother? And, Since the universal undivided Church which decided which books where to be accepted as Canonical and which ones weren’t accepted the Queen Mother as early as the first century after the Fall of the Holy Spirit and relied on the Prime Minister - Pope to make important Decisions and Call Ecumenical Councils as early as the 4th Century, doesn’t it also stand to reason that we should accept both of the things accepted by the New Covenant Kingdom?

Or, Is being Protestant and saying that the Roman Catholic Church “is the Whore of Babylon” more important than hearing what the Post Apostolic and Early Church Christians had to say about this?!?

I don’t. I think he’s a man with a tough job with enormous shoes to fill. John Paul II will go down in history as one of our greatest Popes, and I don’t idolize him, but I have enormous respect for him.

What gives you the idea that Catholics “idolize” the Pope?

Not only a tough job in the religious moral sense but also in the political arena.

I do not idolize him but I am willing to do/ accept/believe whatever he teaches.

I also love and respect him as the supreme Pastor of Christianity. 🙂

One of the reasons so many people are giving silly responses is that most people who ask these questions do not intend to have a sincere dialog on the issue(s).

I agree with another individual that it is inappropriate, but it’s certainly not meant to be mean-spirited. Please bear that in mind. (Even though some were pretty funny!)

If you hope to take a serious look at the Catholic faith, take a deep breath, and one piece at a time. Many of use who have decided the Lord was leading us to the Catholic Church took a lot of time to look at the issues. It was not an easy process for many of us, but after we made the difficult leap, we really felt at home and had a supernatural sense of peace.

Just a suggestion: When you ask questions here, feel free to explain yourself and show your sincerity in trying to find answers. This gets the ball rolling in the right direction. Otherwise, some people think you are just playing games.

First, the bible forbids us to worship idols, so that concept is out.
Second, we respect the Chair of Peter and the person who represents Peter in the line of apostolic succession with regard to the papacy. Because the Church considers anyone who holds the office of pope to be Christ’s “prime minister” here on earth, we have a special reverence for him.
