Why do you oppose immigration?

I kept passing up this thread because of the title, but after having read a small portion, I now see that like myself, no one is opposed to immigration, only illegal immigration.

I find this comment in the OP to be contradictory. “Of course, I except most people’s opposition to immigration (or illegal immigration) to be mainly motivated by self-interest, instead of a through consideration of the common good.” I contend the very opposite – that it is a lack of solidarity and consideration for the common good that leads the open borders crowd to promote an eventual ruling of the illegal immigrant poor (who will be the majority power in league with the progressive left) over everyone else to the detriment of true diverse political thought (the right vs the left) and freedom of expression and it will have come about because of the total disregard for the laws of this nation.

Most dangerous of all is Balkanization which is happening by unchecked illegal immigration and the fact that the de facto Illegal dominant group does not represent the history and evolution of our country nor take into account any of the principles upon which the nation was founded. Instead of a national identity where even diverse groups can bond and find a common ground to fight that which they disagree with, we will be splintered into some sort of multicultural units which are antagonistic toward one another.

From there it is easy to imagine a globalization and socialist world government which would eliminate any national sovereignty at all. Just google Richard Haas if you are an unbeliever.

I think (tongue-in-cheek) that if all the people not of ancestors born here at least 600 years ago were to leave, that would really help out the indigenous people, for whom Columbus Day is a day of mourning. And only those whom the Native Americans allowed could stay here.

That would include free passage for Aztecas (Mexicans) back to their homeland, Aztlan, in Arizona and other states, from whence they came.

If Isaelis can go back to Israel, why not Aztecas back to Aztlan? 🙂

Those who favor illegal immigration on this thread, have probably never lost a job to someone who could not speak English, but was willing to do the same job at a lower wage. Or they have never been forced to wait for medical care cause the doctors were tending to those illegals who could not speak English and had no insurance.

I was laid off a year ago and my boss replaced me with someone who could NOT speak coherently in English. She was willing to work twice the hours (16), at 1/2 my salary in order to keep a job. It was a win-win for my former employer. Except he had to hire someone to translate.

Everyone of them should be stopped at the border and turned back.
