Why do you think God allowed Protestantism?

AJ, help me out here…

you’re saying that, assuming people like Hitler never repented of their publicly-displayed grievously sinful life, that his punishment (wages) for his sins is physical death, not spiritual?? Is that how I understand you? That he is among all the others that, as you put it, “did not have a choice in the eradication of the death sentence, but were subjected in hope to life”? And so Hitler, like it or not, is among the universally saved because he, like everyone else, has no choice in the matter? And you use Jesus’ phyically “short-lived” 33 years on earth as proof-text for this theory?

I just want to know if I understand you correctly…I think I probably didn’t, because it’s quite a silly notion.

God Bless

AJ ~

It would appear from the long answer you posted that the simple answer to my question regarding the salvation of Hitler is Stalin is that you believe they too are saved along with all those who lived in faith and led far more exemplary lives.

Now, I do not pretend to know the hearts of either of these men who were responsible for such monstrous acts against humanity, but if they do not accept the saving sacrifice of Jesus, it is hard to believe that they are saved. Yet apparently that’s what you believe, in your “universal salvation” doctrine. 🤷

Steve, I can’t speak for Jean of course, but I suspect she is responding to the quote from Fr. Corapi in my “signature”.
Ah ha! Now it makes sense. I wouldn’t suspect she would have found agreement in the actual post, unfortunately (very well written btw).

Anne, you said “Because Jesus founded this Church, and promised that it would stand forever”, define forever for me in light of the world being temporal?

Peace>>>AJ
Jesus promised that the Church would stand “forever” in the sense that it would be here for all time and then beyond that.

At some point later, when there is no time, the entire church will be with Jesus in Heaven. The Church will still be there, because we, the people, are the Church. It’s not simply an earthly institution or a building.

Forever extends beyond the end of time.

I want to give you one scripture: Rom 8:20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, This verse paints the picture of the first creation, the flesh and the fall and the second creation, spiritual life.

The bible paints the picture of the creation of Adam and Eve and gives the reason for the fall.
The fall was due to the acquisition of knowledge of good and evil.
Because if you read you will see that ingesting of the fruit of knowledge (tree), we become as gods, as individuals separate from God, meaning death.

Ref: Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. Here we have the serpent speaking, as the world speaks, deceiving us to become selfish, lustful and disobedient towards God.
In fact, we are in Gods image, as gods, able to have a will and make choices.

Tell me, what part of that had we a hand in? Were we not subjected to it without our permission? Where we not deceived?

How then can we, once born into this dammed (Lost) condition of our own efforts change it? None what’s so ever right?

But what if God decided that He would save His own creation, wouldn’t He have the power to effect a change?

The second part of that verse paints a picture of that hope that is granted, given as a gift, free and which all are subjected to.

That gives answer to all those souls who lived and died thousands of years prior to Jesus’ coming as to the state of their souls, not having the opportunity to know Jesus as we do today.
Which when we say, “you must believe in Jesus to be saved”, eliminates all those who never had the opportunity to know Jesus as we do. Is that not the same attitude today?

You think that only we, from Jesus this way, from the cross to today, are the only ones who have/had the opportunity to know Him?

Jesus did visit them in the pit and liberated them as well, only fitting in being consistent with the verse above.

Now, Hitler soul as well as any other soul, Jesus purchased.
Their evil actions, behavior was to their own demise and paid for it by their loss of blessings and being cursed to die early.

Pro 3:2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
As for Jesus’ short life: Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
Jesus was blameless, pure and righteous as God is, yet while in the flesh, but when He took on the sins of the world as God’s sacrificial lamb, Jesus was found with iniquity.

Eze 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

If the righteous amongst all of us is inefficient to save our souls what would be the hope of them that are not, save Jesus.

Now we can see that the righteous nor the unrighteous are at any advantage, but only Jesus, is who is responsible for our souls.

Rev 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

Great. So the record should reflect that AJ believes everyone will be saved, that there is nothing we need to do or can do ourselves, not even accept the saving sacrifice of Jesus, that has any effect whatsoever.

And further, this universal salvation applies to the most monstrous among us as well as the most holy and saintly. Hitler and Stalin and their ilk will all be in Heaven, we can count on it. Good to know!

Perhaps they had a conversion before death just as the good thief. “Jesus remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

We are not saved because of our deeds, we are saved only because of the grace and mercy of God, through the infinite merits of Jesus Christ.

You do realize that the word “time” is temporal?
And what is temporal has and end?

Amo 3:15 And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.
Prerequisite in similitude to: The temple in Jerusalem? How about the body of Jesus?
Luk 22:37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
The physical has an end, the temple in Jerusalem, the body of Jesus for all of it is in “time”, but in the spiritual realm, there is no “time’, therefore no end.

Though we associate the physical church with the body of Jesus, itself has an end, but in the hearts of the believers, there is no end.

AJ,

does free will play a role at all?

And…

The Church is everlasting in the sense of it’s spiritual realm, which is united to Christ’s divine nature, not His physical body which was temporal. The Church is at once natural and supernatural. It is it’s supernatural state that is everlasting. You have to understand that we DO NOT EVER separate The Church from the divinity of Christ…not EVER. The natural state of the Church is what allows us to physically interact, worship, receive sacraments (graces), etc. The essence of The Church however, is predominantly supernatural, forever united with Christ.

Now now, Anne, be sensible, God has gifted you with life.
Should you not give appreciation in your desire to please Him with your right choices?

You have the burden to live just, willingly, as a gift, and should work to influence the world around you as a direct representative of God.

If Hitler was the enemy and God said, love your enemies, what exactly does that mean if it not were that Jesus also died for his soul?

Otherwise, Jesus would have said, love not your enemies but condemn them as I would.

Get the picture?

Jesus promised to protect the Church forever. He’s done that and will continue to do so. No amount of nitpicking over the words is going to change that.

And I’d appreciate a bit less condescension, thank you.

I agree with all you said and it is to you a matter of choice.
My contention is, if I am to witness to the world the love of God it must be separate from the phycisal church and in unity with my self.

For it is within me to testify of God, whether I do it in the congregation of God or out in the world.

I’m sorry, AJ. Too many mixed messages. Universal salvation, BUT…with a “burden to live just”…or…“should” work to represent God. What does all this mean to you soteriologically? Do you have a definitive stance on what is required in your version of “assured salvation”?

Because we can not detect our emotion directly in words, we may assume something that is not.

I was addressing the above response as a little sarcastic,… and if I sounded condenscending, it was not my intention, soo I apologize as I so often do.

The picture you’re painting is that you are either unwilling or unable to give a straight answer, in my opinion. You are also apparently unwilling to be accountable for what you yourself do. Under those circumstances, it’s hard to understand why any such person would believe themselves to be credible to preach to others about their shortcomings.

Trying not to beat a dead horse here, AJ…sorry if I am…
I suppose we must agree to disagree about the nature of The Church, as you insist on limiting Her to a mere physical state. You know, I wouldn’t argue with you if it were in fact true that The Church was simply physical. But the truth is, it isn’t. The faithful must both participate with, and be capable of seeing past the physical presence of The Church, understand God’s eternal plan for The Church, and see Her as She truly IS. As I’ve suggested to you in many other posts, if you want to have sensible debates with Catholics, you must address this specific issue…until it is UNDENIABLY AFFIRMED within you, that what you believe about The Church is actually correct. Of course, our contention is that if you truly do that, you will see that your version of The Church has all along been in error.

God Bless

Yes, a requirement is totally of free will!

If it can not be done from the heart then it is of no earthly use.

If the heart is not touched to help someone, the thing remains untouched.

The burden is the buring desire to please God and not a burden of load as of guilt.

My stance is: First to love God with all my heart, mind and soul, which means being given to God for earthly use,

And…second to love my neighbor as my self, which is as a servant.

Jesus said: Mar 9:35 And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.
Mar 10:44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.

We become servants willingly and not by force.

Now all that I said above requires nothing other than to excercise God’s love from the heart.
If we belong to this church or that church makes no differance.

We don’t come to love God via the church, we come to love God via His Holy Spirit, because He is the one who inhabits our souls heart!

Okay…getting somewhere…maybe. So…not universal salvation then? right? We must believe, accept, and cooperate with grace, yes? Those who don’t…no salvation, right? We’re not all just “subjected” to holiness and bound for heaven, yes? If so, why do you think this is contrary to Catholic teaching? And…you’re right…we DO come to love God via His Holy Spirit…but the Holy Spirit is first and foremost united with The Church (not a building…Christ’s Bride…represented by The One Holy Catholic Church)…The Church is the channel through which The Holy Spirit comes to all the world, whether they are Catholic, protestant, non-denom, atheist…whatever.

In actuallity your saying to me that unless I agree with you to what the church means to you, I am not capable of debating it?

What I am saying to you is that it doesn’t matter to me whether the church is physical or not, but that the heart is where the real church is.

One can go to church every Sunday, confess every Friday and do it over and over again to relieve the guilt that is within, but does never touch the heart to willfuly make a change (Repentance) from the former, is guilty to repeat it again.

While as if the heart is touched… willfully, repentance sets in, (Change of heart) life changes to the desires of pleasing God.

Confess is less frequent for now the requirement is self imposed.

As in what Paul said: Rom 7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
The awareness is there, the desire to do good is there, but we find it hard to conform to what we would like not to do because of the flesh, but we know that we can overcome because we willifully desire it and God sees it and strenghtens us.

Meanwhile, lets us not make any denominatinal changes, but let the spirit of God lead us.

Peace>>>AJ
