Why do you think God allowed Protestantism?

and what does it mean to be One in Spirit to you? what does it mean to you when Jesus said to the Apostles: “whoever hears you hears me, and whoever rejects you, rejects me and the One who sent me.”?

:knight2::knight2:
I think that was meant for Peter only because Peter was walking closely with the Sprirt and doing the work of God.

Peter did not exalt himself above the other believers.
**Acts10:25 **When Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell at his feet and worshiped him. 26 But Peter raised him up, saying, “Stand up; I too am just a man.”

Peter didn’t play games with the Church’s money.
**Acts 5:8 **And Peter responded to her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for such and such a price?” And she said, “Yes, that was the price.” 9 Then Peter said to her, “Why is it that you have agreed together to put the Spirit of the Lord to the test? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out as well.” 10 And immediately she fell at his feet and breathed her last, and the young men came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11 And great fear came over the whole church, and over all who heard of these things.

The people honored him and the other apostles because of their actions. They didn’t have to convince anyone of their authority.
**Acts 5:12 **At the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were taking place among the people; and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s portico. 13 But none of the rest dared to associate with them; however, the people held them in high esteem.

Why did God allow over half the world to be in poverty, for people to be starving, getting diseases, dying in childhood, and why did God allow Natural Disasters that kill thousands of people.
HI LXA2, Welcome to CAF i hope you find the answers that you seek here, and you know alot of things have happened back in those days, because people choose to go it alone and most did not pray for God to lead, guide, and direct them into the light. They worshiped other Gods that were not real. Some times it is mother nature telling us that the land is shot and needs a rest so we should move on and find more fertile ground. Alot of people died because of lack of knowledge on how to cultivate the lands and even how to care for diseased animals so they lost everything. The earth has a way of regeneratiog it’s self and kind of starting over again.Like people do. There are lost cicalizations, so we dont have all the answers but, I know Father will explain alot to us when we see his glorious face. You are loved Nancy

are you taking the passage that talks about being of One Spirit and applying to the pope situation? what passage are you reading? why do you mix signs and wonders and being in One in Spirit and money with the pope situation? i confess i am lost here.

peace.

Ahoy, Bob Crowley, have you got some shrimp on the barbie? I am always glad to hear stories(testimonies) from people who step out in faith, in search of truth(or Truth), and find peace in their choice! We know that God gave man free will, but we really don’t know for sure why:confused: Do you ever wonder, who really goes to Heaven; do you think, perhaps we’ll be surprised by who makes the cut, and who doesn’t? It’s interesting to read obituaries, and notice how many times the deceased is referred to as a “good”,SDA, JW,RC,etc.,etc.,! And you are right, division in the Body of Christ, is a negative thing! It’s more about edifying, and lifting each other up, regardless of affiliation! I pray for all Christians, not just non-catholics! Lord, let us work together for Your Kingdom, and put aside petty differences, which are bred by the flesh, and not the Spirit! Let us reach out to each other, and grow as one unit, united in You, advancing Your Kingdom, and reaching the lost! In Jesus’s most Holy Name, Amen!!!👍

I’m talking about being one in spirit with Church leadership when Church leadership is in alignment with God’s will. If the priests and laity are following Christ and the popes and bishops are not then we are not “one in spirit.”

If the pope exalts himself, lives in a palace and has to coerce obedience then he is the one causing disunity. Naturally people don’t want to listen to a guy like that. “Whoever hears you hears me, and whoever rejects you, rejects me and the One who sent me” doesn’t apply anymore. They can reject him and accept the One who sent him. That’s why you have Protestants.

i see. can you tell me what Jesus said to the disciples when He said to them relating to the pharisees of His time: "do as they tell you, but do not do as they do.’ do you think Jesus encouraged disunity and dissobedience here?

peace.

Well, of course we still sin, Nancy; God did not remove our sin nature, just forgave all of our sins! And 1John 1:9, reminds us that if we confess our sins unto Him, he is faithful to forgive:thumbsup: And Jesus is our mediator/intercessor to the Holy Father(God). That’s why I don’t have to visit a priest, to confess my sins on either a weekl/daily basis:thumbsup:

Jesus never encouraged disunity but it happened anyway. He wanted the Jews and Gentiles to worship together but the Jews didn’t accept the Gentiles because the Jews were the true religion. They were God’s favorite. They knew Him first. They had the traditions, they had the true interpretation of scripture and the presence of God was more with them than with anyone else. Is history repeating itself?

Wait! Do you go to a church? Nancy

Yes, I do go to a “church”; how about you? The church, of course is not a building, but the body of believers(meaning ALL Christians)! And as far as I am aware, only catholics, and like religions require you to go to confession! I have not found any words by my Saviour, commanding me to go to weekly confession! By the grace of God, I am able to enter the throneroom of grace, and I can confess mysins directly to Him(Hebrews 4:16).

Okay, let’s say that a non-catholic, who has been saved, for say 20 years, and baptized, decides to convert to catholicism! Can they be grafted in, without going through the hassle of confirmation, first communion, the drudgery of confession to a priest, wearing or displaying a crucifix, or praying through Mary and the saints?

Yes, and No, You would need to be Baptized, and make your first communion and be confermed, after you have made a good confession of recogciliation to the priest if you were catholic before. But if you never were you still need to do a confession and RCIA classes. As far as saint worship, Catholics pray for intercession prayer with the saints, like we do with people in the church ETC. I talk to Father and Jesus all the time. i do not go to confesion all the time. And I was a non Catholic not very long ago. Love of Christ Nancy

My point is this, you must have someone who is head of your church? And you must listen to him or her right? well there must be someone in charge of the church or people would do what ever they want right? God wants order. Gods house is a house of order. But there are still things I am fighting. Love of Christ Nancy

Bob Crowley: When and where did Jesus speak about the authority of the pope?
I’m not Bob, but Jesus gave Peter authority over the Church in two places: in Matthew 16:18-19, and in John 21:15-19, in which He explicitly makes Peter the Shepherd of the Church.

When we look at history, we see that the line of succession of the Popes extends back in a straight line to St. Peter, which shows us that it was Jesus who established the Papacy, and made Peter to be the first Pope, even though they don’t specifically use that word in the Bible. 🙂

And since the Pope is the head of the Catholic Church, it seems obvious that, therefore, the Church that Christ established is the Catholic Church. 👍

Confusion reigns; if the non-catholic is already saved and baptzed, why does he /she need to be confirmed? And confession is a personal thing between you and God! And doesn’t it seem like we’re always thinking we know what God wants?😛 There is order in God’s house, it is us who bring disorder! And why do people welcome the Holy Spirit to their gathering? Sholdn’t He welcome us; He’s already there! I will tell my friend that her salvation and baptism, are not valid as far as the catholic church is concerned< and that she has to (I guess) attend RICO classes???

Don’t send your friend to RICO classes. (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations)

Send her to RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) :rotfl:

Confirmation is one of the Sacraments of Initiation into the Catholic Church, where we are literally anointed with the seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit - wisdom, understanding, knowledge, right judgement, courage, piety, and awe or fear of the Lord.
And confession is a personal thing between you and God!
Actually, sin harms the whole world; not just God. The priest also represents the community that was harmed when we committed the sin.
And doesn’t it seem like we’re always thinking we know what God wants?😛 There is order in God’s house, it is us who bring disorder!
That’s why God gave us an infallible Church - so that we would be able to clear away the confusion and know what is right to do. 😉
And why do people welcome the Holy Spirit to their gathering? Sholdn’t He welcome us; He’s already there!
When we enter the Church building “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” - we are not “welcoming” them; it is us who are entering into Their presence. I have never heard a Catholic say anything to indicate that they thought the Holy Spirit needed an invitation to enter the Church building.

 Her “salvation” and her baptism are most likely valid (it depends on the circumstances) and depending on her level of knowledge, she may or may not be asked to participate in some portion of RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) but obviously not the whole thing, since she is already a Christian, but just not a Catholic yet.
