God prefers his own Church to those that are made by humans…
well…maybe you can answer the question…it’s quite simple…where in the bible does it CLEARLY STATE that god chose catholicism to represent him on the eart…no one seems to be able to answer that question…i dont want to know what your interpretation is(not to sound rude, mind you)…i want to know where the bible state a preference for catholicism…plainly, directly, wi8th no need for convoluted “explanations”…:D…frederick

Thou art Peter and upon this Peter I am establishing My Church. Matthew 16:18-19 🙂

Where do we find Peter in History? Psst, I’ll give you a hint. We find him at the top of the list of the Catholic Popes. 😃

Put them together and what do you get? 🤷

AHA! Jesus established the Catholic Church, and set up Peter to be the first Pope. 👍

where is the church where there are no sinners???

Please, please, please tell me… because i surely would like to go to that church… (of course, once i join, it won’t be a sinner-less church anymore… but oh well…) 😦 .😃

me…i’m confused…where did i mention or imply a sinnerless church?

anyhow, why can’t it be true both that “where 2 or more are gathered…”

and “On this rock i will build my Church and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it”

me…because if both those statements are true, then the supposition that the roman catholic church is the only true church doesnt work…unless, of course, mans interpretation wins out over god’s word…it also NEVER state that the rc is the only church…never…not one time…

have you read today’s Mass readings?

me…why on earth would i read some humans interpretation of the word of god

They are from the New American Standard version which Protestants also use. the rdgs speak of the House of God… Jesus was IN that House… and called it His Father’s House…

Then there’s the issue of the Ark of the Covenant…

me… huh???..fd

Okay, let’s say that a non-catholic, who has been saved, for say 20 years, and baptized, decides to convert to catholicism! Can they be grafted in, without going through the hassle of confirmation, first communion, the drudgery of confession to a priest, wearing or displaying a crucifix, or praying through Mary and the saints?
What is the church called non denominational? It has a name? Nancy:)

Nancy:My wife and I currently attend The Way Fellowship; a God-fearing, Christ-centered, externally focused church! And yes, we have a pastor, named John(how apprpriate, huh! God speaks to us through John, as He speaks to all Christians through anointed men. Your pastor, priest, or whatever, happens to be the pope!👍

There was only one Church in the time of Christ; it was Christ’s Church and it was led by the Apostles. After that and ever since then, many other churches have also cropped up, but Christ’s Church has remained, like the wheat among the weeds.

We can trace which one is Christ’s Church by looking to history and seeing which one was being Shepherded by St. Peter in the time of Christ - so we do that, and we find that it is the Catholic Church. 👍

But no - the Bible writers didn’t know that there were going to be Lutherans and Presbyterians, etc., so they didn’t write “follow the Catholic Church.” They did say, don’t follow anyone who comes up with a different Gospel, though.

You hit the nail on the head. It is a bogus notion. And Prtotestantism was merely the inevitable emergance of one more outgrowth of true bibical life to join the baptists in proclaiming the life that Christ died and rose to provide. The amazing thing is that God allowed the Roman Catholic Church to survive as long as it has.

Why is it so important to you that the Bible “clearly state” something in order for you to have faith in it? Do you believe that God is three persons in one being? Would you say that it is a fundamental Christian belief? And does the Bible “clearly state” this fact to you?

God does not have “preference” for the Catholic Church. He has preference for all humans, righteous and wicked alike. It isn’t favoritism that’s being expressed. He (through the person of Christ) simply established an authority on earth to carry on His mission of leading all souls to Himself. This started with the 12, and today is embodied by the Catholic Church seated in Rome. One need not necessarily be perfectly unified to Christ’s Church to achieve the grace necessary for eternal life in heaven, but this Church is the one established by God Himself to best build up and raise up the Body of Christ, and be a beacon of light and truth unto the entire world.

This isn’t a matter of “my church is better than yours”. I can see why you might think this, since the proclamation by Catholics of the authenticity of Catholicism can sound quite arrogant to one outside of it.

The Baptist Church was started in 1609 by a group of recovering alcoholics who were being led in a Bible study by John Smythe. (That’s why drinking is not allowed in the Baptist Church, along with dancing, theatre, card games, and anything else that is traditionally associated with drinking. That’s also why their services of worship take the form of a Bible study.)

Two thousand and nine years and still going strong. 👍

Check the Anabaptists, friend. Face the truth.

“Friend” indeed. The Quakers (Friends) are Anabaptists, of course. 🙂 The Baptists are not, strictly speaking, Anabaptists, though, since they have more of a structure to their Sunday meetings. About the only thing they share in common with the Anabaptists is that they also deny baptism to children.

The Mennonites were the earliest Anabaptists, and they were first organized by Simons Mennos in 1526, in Holland. (There was a lay movement of Anabaptists that started there 1524, but it quickly fell apart due to a lack of leadership, and it was that same group of people who came under the leadership of Simons Mennos.)

I have a question, what do you call the jewish beliefs? Protestants? And I thought they were called the chosen people? Nancy

Nancy, the Jewish people are Jewish; they aren’t Catholic or Protestant.
And I thought they were called the chosen people?
Yes, they were the chosen people of the Old Covenant, which makes them very important and very special.

Do you mean: What do you call the Jewish believers in the Messiah who are not Catholic?

This is very interesting and ties in with this discussion. They are not Protestant, Catholic or Jewish. I was at this Church in Garfield N.J. about 7 years ago.

Known as Messianic Jews, members of Beth Israel recite Hebrew, celebrate Jewish holidays and support Israel.
But they also believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the savior of the world and the redeemer of the Jewish people.
And they think other Jews should join them.
“Lord, we pray for the day when your people welcome you as Messiah,” Cahn preached on a recent Sunday.
That day may never come. Mainstream Jews worship the one God of the Old Testament, or Hebrew Bible, and regard Jesus as falling outside Judaism. And many Jewish organizations frown on the Messianic movement, saying it is inherently dishonest.
“They are calling themselves Jewish when they are actually Christian,” said Rabbi Stephen Wylen of Temple Beth Tikvah, a Reform synagogue. “We take it personally, because they use our name.”
He’s not alone. A Jewish community center in Wayne recently enlisted the help of an outside group — Jews for Judaism — to educate young Jews on the Messianic movement and ward off what they fear will be aggressive conversion efforts.
“What’s at stake is the boundaries of Judaism,” said Yishai Freedman, teen coordinator for Jews for Judaism “We can have diversity within Judaism but (belief in Jesus) isn’t Judaism and we need to say very clearly that this is where we draw the line.”

OH! there’s two of them? Those who believe in Jesus and those who do not right? I guess the ones who believe are christian. BUT, it say’s in the bible that Jesus is comming back to Jerusalem for his people so are they not his people? He said the blood would be up to the horses bridle so then they will believe and he will rescue them. Did you know this?

Revelation 14:20 And the wine press was trodden outside the city, and blood came out from the wine press, up to the horses’ bridles, for a distance of two hundred miles.

Yes, I know about this bible passage but I don’t fully understand the Book of Revelation. I don’t think many people do. I was thinking about the Messianic Jews today who are more like Evangelical Christians. They are not Catholic or Protestant and they are not accepted as Jewish by the Jews. They are just Jewish Christians like the first converts.
