Why do you think God allowed Protestantism?

Hey, Nancy: When you were washing feet and other acts of humility, in nursing homes, was it part of your job, or were you volunteering your time? And if you were a volunteer, are you still involved in service to your King, in the same type of activities?
I’d wash anyone who needed it, and i would have no problems with it either.😃

me…thats pretty funny…a textbook is a compilation of data and as such it requires no beleif in what you are compiling…ANYONE can “write” a textbook…
This was for Public School. There were no Catholics involved in any aspect of the finding and delivery of that information. No Protestants, either. It was all just what is out there for the scholars to find.
me…actually…youre quite mistaken…i asked if you wanted me to read info compiled by the rc, in order to corroborate claims made by the rc…how in the world is that saying the rc was around at ANY date…i’m sure that the misrepresentation of what i said is accisental…fd
There is nothing in that book series that was written after 750 AD. It’s all of the writings from the Early Church, from 50 AD until 750 AD. (So, if there’s a “conspiracy” there, it had to happen at least 800 years before there was such a thing as Protestantism.)

yes but what about this:

i don’t always feel very comfortable or “myself” when in confession, particularly w/ certain priests… i often feel best just confessing my sins to God… (I’m a cradle Catholic, orthodox/catechized)

have you ever been to confession & felt that the priest didn’t “get it”??? didn’t understand you one bit?? Of course, i’m strange so no one understands me… 😦 but in any case…

I know that you don’t have to totally understood to be absolved (Thank God :)) but it does get kind of … well, tiresome never being at least somewhat understood…

but then, maybe i am blind to something… maybe the priest understands me well enough & that just has to be good enough…which it kind of is 'cause i like frequent confession…

anyway, I always was one to see the cup half emtpy…

there was one or 2 priests in my life who i felt understood and (and/OR) really listened… but they are far, far away @ this point… 😦

is being “understood” totally unnecessary, in your opinion?? should one look for a priest one has a rapport with??
HI Distracted, there are priests on line you can talk to i can get you some information if you want cuse i talked to them but they told me to see my piest in my own church So go figure. Nancy

Actually, no - I first learned this historical fact from a Hindu, and the text book she was reading it from was written by an atheist. So, in addition to Catholics, also atheists and Hindus believe this, at least. I also learned it again when I went to college, and the teacher was a practicing Buddhist.

Well, hey, at least now you are admitting that there were Catholics around in 50 AD - that’s a start!! 👍

They didn’t.

me…***
yes…they did…***the vatican gave succor and passports to nazis on the run…it is a documented, historical fact…😃 ***

To name just a very few of the 860,000 Jews who were helped to escape from Nazi Europe because of the Pope’s intervention, there were Chief Rabbi Alexander Saffran of Bucharest, Jan Hermann and Dr. Max Pereles, and Jeno Levai. You can read their testimomials and “Thank You” letters here.

The Catholic Poles were being rounded up right along with the Jews for not participating in this, or have you not heard of Saint Maximilian Kolbe?

***me…***hmmm…what about the polish home army?..they regularly cheated the jewish resistance out of money and arms sent to them by the allies…what about all those escapees from sobibor and treblinka that were murdered by the poles?..what about the poles who went out of their way to betray or murder jewish partisans?..

Yes, he did. It seems to me that you just make stuff up as you go along, without doing any research at all,

***me…***lovely…please try to be less condescending in the future

because all it took for me was a simple Google search to find a few names of Jews that had been rescued from the Nazis by Pope Pius XII, and another quick Google search will bring up Pope John Paul II’s condemnation of child molesters both in and outside of the Church.

***me…***yes…" a few names"…meaning…“not very many”…btw…how long had the priestly sexual molestation been going on before he said something?..why did cardinal law move those pedophiles around instead of prosecuting them?.. why didnt he make a real effort?..he’s just as responsible for those destroyed lives as are the perpetrators…

Yes, He did. If she did not fulfill her divine mandate in an appropriate manner, that is her sin; not God’s

***me…***you keep answering statements that i didnt make…when did i equate a sin with god?..btw…child abuse isnt a “sin”…its a horrible state that is imposed upon those who are the most helpless and those who engage in it should be prosecuted…period…

. But yes, God put you into her womb and gave her the job of taking care of you.

If so, then the Bible is just his own personal opinion, and can’t be considered the Word of God, can it?

***me…***that makes no sense…how do you go from me saying the pope is fallable to the bible not being the word of god…the arguement doesnt work…👍

You have to make your Confession in person. For one thing, on-line is not very private - a lot of people read your e-mails before they finally arrive to the person they are intended for.

me…thats incorrect…i went to sda boarding schools my entire life…my parents were lifelong academics who were involved many, many times in the review and purchasing of textbooks…there are many texts in religious schoolls that were written by non-believers.

me…how does that prove that the pope is appointed by god?..or that early christians were catholics?..and how does it answer the question i posed about using the rc to substantiate claims made by the rc?..

how about a rectory,? if you could get in touch with someone private I may have to do that to get anything accomplished since my vicor wont listen he is to busy so where do you go?

Hey, worthy5: Maybe you need to go into your “favorites” folder, and pull up a different reply to posts; this one has been overused! No, I haven’t read the original Greek or Jewish versions, but maybe some day:cool: Hey, when you get a minute, read 2Samuel14:14, and tell me what it means to you! God bless you, my brother in Christ!
That is because it has not been effectively addressed. Guess there are no takers.

Around here, Confessions are scheduled during the week and on weekends, typically on Saturday afternoons, and sometimes at other times, too. You just meet the priest in the Confessional at the appointed time.

“Vicars” are Anglican, though. I don’t think you want to go to an Anglican, do you?

There is only a 5 min. confessional and I have been x2 since I have been back to the church and I have never got pennance so far, not that I am complaining but why go? the last time i went he said did anyone here commit a mortal sin? if not you are all exonerated. So why should i get blamed for how he does things? He is way to busy dont you understand?

I don’t even know what you are talking about.

For Confession, the priest is in the little tiny room by himself for an hour or so, at an appointed time. 4:00 on Saturdays, for example.

You go at 4:00 pm or a little bit after 4:00 pm (or whatever the appointed time is) and you wait in line. When it’s your turn, you go in the other side of the little box, and you talk into the little slot in the wall and say, "Bless me Father for I have sinned. My last good Confession was … (whenever it was). You then mention your sins, and he offers you some advice, asks you for your Act of Contrition, gives you your penance, and then gives you the Absolution. After that he says, May almighty God bless you and keep you, and you reply, Amen, and that’s it; you go out and signal to the next person that it’s their turn.

Robert, do you play the pipes? i know someone who plays and he and his daughter have been on tv and he played before the Queen of england. I love bag pipes. I have alot of music with scottish and Irish pipes. Nancy:)
Yes. But I’m a rank beginner. I’ve loved the pipes (particularly the Great Highland Bagpipes) since I was a boy and made the decision to learn about 2 years ago, when I turned 39. Lots of fun. I’ll probably never get good enough to play for the queen. But I’m having lots of fun at it. 👍

Peace,
Robert

WOW BOY are you that much of a sinner? i dont get pennance and i said bless me father ETC and I had given my recongciliation 2 weeks before and I did not get pennance then he said i suffered enough and i have not had to do pennance. And we sit in front of each other face to face. There is no box there to hide behind. Nancy

No doubt about it, I am definitely a sinner. 😊

Okay, I was just making sure - I got really confused when you said he asked “everybody” if they had had any mortal sins - it made it seem like everyone was all in the Confessional all at the same time. 🤷

NO we were all standing out side and he asked if anyone had a mortal sin and we looked and he said well did you kill someone? and we laughed and he said you are all exonerated go!

Name one or two reasons you think God allowed Protestantism.

I think one reason might be that Catholicism is so… difficult, that maybe God wanted there to be an “easier, softer” way that would lead people to Christ (and He knew that many would then be led to the RC Church)?? Just a thought.

Also, i think that Protestants generally focus on different things than Catholics do, different “aspects” of God, things that are nonetheless very important… like, well… i just think that sometimes they are more… friendly… & i feel they may trust in God’s mercy more than a lot of Catholics…
God allowed Protestantism in the same breath he allowed Lucifer and his minions rebel agaist God. He allowed Protestantism in the same way he allowed the existence of evil.

Hey worthy5: Have you had a chance to read 2Samuel 14:14 yet? Just curious if you saw the same thing that I did.And everybody interprets everything a little bit differently!

jmmccrae: That sounds like a hassle, just to confess your sins, and to a mere mortal man! I can go to the Father(God) through Jesus, the Son and no waiting! I knew there was a reason I didn’t like the idea of confessing to a priest!

In fact Jesus didn’t start any such thing as a “Church.”
So, you think He did not really say “upon this Rock, I will build My Church”? Is that a fabricated statement?
His commision to Peter has been misused as a tactic to found what is now a political machine that uses your good faith as a commodity.
This is a position that is essential to take for those that deny the authority that Christ gave to Peter.
That does not impinge in the least bit on the Spirit of God, nor on your ecxellence in devotion.
True. What is demonstrates is that your perceptions have been impinged upon by the Father of Lies.
If there is any tangibility of Jesus in the Church it is because you yourself put it there. Otherwise it would be felt by everyone as a commonality of experience.
Actually, the opposite of what you say if true. If the “presence” of God in the Church is only a result of our human projections thereof, then all who have a commonality of experience will feel it the same. On the contrary, this is not the case. The presence of Christ in the Church emnates from Him,not us. This is what He meant when He said “I will be with you, even unto the end of the age.”
Can the Presence of the Son of God be tangible and palpable? Absolutely! But that experience is not in the least bit dependent on the Church, its teachings, or dogmas.
Certainly not. Jesus is found tangibly and palpably in the Church, but He is not confined there.
In fact, if anything those are prophylactic to a genuine experience, IMHO. Those who experience the Presence of the Son “through” the Church are likely either emotionalizing or have done so despite the Church as a victory of sincerity over teaching.
This is interesting. You are placing your own “IMHO” experience above the Revelation of God in Christ.

It is essential that you believe that Catholics experience Christ personally through the Church “despite” the Teaching of the Church, so that you can justify your disobedience to Christ’s command “he who hears you, hears Me”.
Your opinion that such Presence is singluarly the property of a construted and construed faith system of man is… well, you know, flushable. Wake up.
I agree. God’s presence is not confined to the Church. If it were, where was He prior to the birth of the Church? Although we do experience HIm authentically and personally through His One Body, the Church, He has established the Church as the avenue through which we can gain heaven. It is His gift to us, not a limitation of Himself.

Hey worthy5: Have you had a chance to read 2Samuel 14:14 yet? Just curious if you saw the same thing that I did.And everybody interprets everything a little bit differently!
No, why would I. I cannot read the original text so I would not presume to interpret it. And notice neither you or the other post has addressed the issue concerning the fundamental problem of how the inherent nature of the indeterminancy of written language can effectively convey a knowable divine revelation. Nor any support has been given on why or how the Bible is in fact what it says it is-divine revelation. So two problems 1) How do you know the Bible is divine revelation 2) How can written text effectively communicate such a revelation. I think this creates a problem for you. I like to see how you attempt to resolve it. Just curious though thanks
