Why do you think Our Lady appeared so many times in France?

I think France has had quite a few apparitions, more than any other country if I am correct
 
Possibly because France was a staunchly Catholic country. But that’s just a guess. In reality, I don’t know the reason, but I do find it interesting.
 
At least concerning those of the last few centuries, France was one of the focal points where natural reason was proclaimed greater than faith. The miracles and apparitions helped to show the power of faith (especially Lourdes) and to strengthen the faithful during persecution (ie the Miraculous Medal). That’s my best guess, anyway.
 
France used to be called the Daughter of the Church. I don’t know if the has to do with anything, though.
 
Note that Our Lady does not come to tell us how good we have been. Her purpose is to get a fire going under us. Maybe France needs it?:rolleyes:

Oh, France sure does. Our Lady, Notre Dame, pray for France, and all of Europe!
 

You only have to see the fleur de lis in Charlemagnes hand to understand the power of France.

Charlemagne unified western Europe during the height of the dark ages for a few decades it led to peace, until vikings attacked. Charlemagnes son became a King of France, although France had already had kings for a long time earlier.

France has historically been the most stable, unified and possibly wealthy Catholic nation for the past 1000 years. Due to these factors as well as that it is in the center of europe it is naturally a leader and influencer of other nations. Thats one of the reasons why French have the reputation of snobbiness.

Also because it has a seacoast surrounding it, it had many sources for trade and naval power.

France epitomizes the Catholic Church in many ways. If you study history you will understand how powerful these different influences come to be over time. Where did the Pope go when he fled Rome…he went to Avignon, France

You only have to read certain eastern orthodox polemics that complain about the west to see that they refer to the westerners constantly as “The Franks”.

France is identified by Catholicism.

I’ve never eaten Freedom Fries, and I actually marched in protest of the war in Iraq.

I’m referring to the fact that Christianity is dead in Europe, and that in 50-100 years, Europe will be a Muslim continent.
 
Not if we do anything to do about it.

One word from the Pope and you will have a bunch of people locking and loading, even if they are not the most pious people.
 
My own personal opinion is that Our Lady saw that in the near future, France would come perilously close to losing the Catholic faith entirely. If Mass attendance stats are correct something like 12% of Catholics sat they regularly attend Mass. That in reality works out to about 6% that actually do. Islam is making tremendous inroads there as is evangelical protestantism, although to nowhere near the same degree.

I believe her appearances there were to reassure the faithful that France was of great concern to Her. The apparitions show that France is of special interest and concern to Her.

At least that is how I see it.
 
Most likely because of the French Revolution, however I am not personally sure whether these apparitions are true.

Interesting thoughts.

On the other hand (just speculating here) it is also possible that the stats for France are so low today in part because of the apparitions. This is, after all, a skeptical age.

I can see no reason whatsoever why the Blessed Mother would display any partiality. But anything is possible, I suppose.

Not partiality because of France being France, but more a special concern as the country is rapidly losing the faith these days. Apparently from all reports much more rapiidy than many other places.
