Why do you think Our Lady appeared so many times in France?

Not partiality because of France being France, but more a special concern as the country is rapidly losing the faith these days. Apparently from all reports much more rapiidy than many other places.

Ok then, possibly.

I for one am not certain that there really were more apparitions of the BVM in France. And I am not certain that the church in France is declining faster than elsewhere either. It should not be held out as an example of worst case. If anyone has statistics to share, either about the changes in French religiosity or in the number of approved apparitions I’d like to see them posted.

Anyway, the BVM’s ‘big’ appearances seem to have happened when the church and belief were in the ascendancy and rising, having already come out of an era of intense disbelief.

It seems to me that apparitions of this nature are more likely to occur in times of religious excitement or ferment without reference to what may or may not happen in the future.

If anything I would be inclined to think that these events happen more often when more people are ready for them or open to them. Or possibly it’s just that such things were more likely to be publicized in France, there might have been a more skeptical press or church hierarchy in (for example) Germany, or Mexico or Slovenia.

Trying to explain past apparitions in relation to current conditions is problematic. Although it seems for all the world like a looming disaster for the church in Europe these days, this is just a moment in time. France (and Gaul) have been through much worse.

I think France has had quite a few apparitions, more than any other country if I am correct

Perhaps because france is a hotbed of heterodoxy punctuated by the occasional radically orthodox Catholic. At least from 1400 on…

My two cents are that Our Lady appears like a general rallying troops where the lines have been broken through and they are being over run, or these things about about to happen. Besides she needs to get plenty of good French cooks bakers and the like up to heaven

Right! The French Revolution is the key to everything that’s happened in the last two hundred years.

Our Lady represents the values of Faith and Obedience to God. The French Revolution was the opening salvo in a battle that’s still raging today, a war with faith and obedience to God on one side, and strict rationality and obedience to “the will of the people” on the other. It was the Mother of All Revolutions. Our Lady has appeared so many times in France to remind us that no earthly revolution can bring us the salvation that her Son’s death made possible.

The contrast between the humble and poor she usually appears to in France and the wealthy intelligentsia who reject her is striking as well.

Blessed Mother Mary has appeared to people all over the world for many years. Not just in France.

Our Lady as appeared many times in Mexico and in the U.S.
Every time she appears she makes the news and people say, “Yes, that’s Our Lady.” Thousands of people go see her image appear on some window or building. They show her on T.V and on the local newspapers in the U.S.A…
The publicity is not sent world wide.

Since the 1980’s, I have noticed Our Lady has appeared in many cities. In 1996, an image of her appeared on a poor familes’ window in Oxnard, California. There are many Catholics in Oxnard who pray to her. My mom prays to her to take care of us adult children and Our Lady has appeared to each one of us.
Our Lady appeared to me personally several times in Oxnard, Calif. in 1996… I decided to do many paintings of her and then of her with baby Jesus in her arms.
I even did a painting of “Our Lady and Baby Jesus” and took it personally to the Vatican as a gift for Pope John Paul 11.

Our Lady will appear to anybody that wants to see her personally.
Sometimes she appears to private people and other times she appears in public places for the world to see her.

NO! I DON’T DRINK EVER!!! I just know for a fact that Blessed Mother is always with me. You don’t have to be Catholic to see her either. Many none Catholics have also seen her all over the world and not just in France.

I also think it was because of the French Revolution in a similar way to the ‘Communist’ revolution in Portugal ( Fatima ).

most of these apparitions were in the form of warnings against loss of faith, lukewarm practice of the faith, and danger of eternal fire for those who apostasize, and always the call to conversion. she comes where and when people need this warning.
