So now a two part question [THANKS for putting up with them]🙂

[1] As a LDS HOW are one’s sins forgiven and on what basis?

As to your position that “their is nothing we can do to deserve heaven”

[2] WHY THEN in the BILLIONS of Cfeated things in the Universe, does humanity ALONE, have a Mind, Intellect and FREEWILL? [To what end?]

Hi, Patrick,
  1. I’m not an LDS so I can’t answer that question
  2. Good question - one of those we can ask God when we get to heaven. Honestly, though, are we not created in God’s image? We do have free will which means we can reject Him and the Word at any time. I think it’s a great philosophical subject but we must use the Scriptures to find our answers.

My OPPS:blush: [TRIFOCALS]

We’ve had so many LDS posters on my threads lately:thumbsup: That I just glanced and made the WRONG assumption.

I just sent you a PM so I’ll leave this point alone for the present.

Again I apologize

Why my friends, do you suppose that Catholics believe in Purgatory?

To me besides being the word of God its common sense. For example on an average day heading to work we will say on a Friday, a rough week most of us all some kind of sin.

We are not perfected in Christ or what you could say have reached sainthood here on earth. But the bible says you must be a Saint into order heaven. Perfected in Christ without sin.

Now back to my point, you had a bad week, maybe have cheated (fudged a little) at work. made many mistakes. Never got to confession to confess and make right that sin. You get killed in a car crash.

Now if we hold the protestant view no Purgatory you go right to heaven or hell. How many people do you know that if they die right now they are sinless and perfected in Christ?? Be honest.

We as Catholics know that to become a Saint you must be one with Christ in Mind and Deed. I do not know one person on this Earth that even come close to that. But the word of God tells us in order to go to heaven you must be Purified and have one thing on your mind, want to please God and only God, not self.

Besides the Pope and I believe even he has time in Purgatory, he is the only one I could put my money on if I had to pick someone.

I think I am going to put it on him. He was chosen by God to be the Vicar of Christ and I believe with our Prayers and the Grace given to him by Christ he is going to do a good job.

But as with all humans he has free will to sin and turn away from Christ but I believe he truly loves Christ and is using his free will to serve him the best he can.

Lets put it this way, who do you think in this world today has surpassed him at this point so far?

Hi rinnie,

i know you were speaking of the pope, and I was not , at least not directly. I was speaking more of putting money down to lessen purgatory and a few problems that caused a while back.

Blessings
