My great great grandfather and g-g grandmother were from DumbartonIam a Scots Canadian. The music being used in Ontario Churches is almost unsingable by the congregation even the priests struggle with it,but what can you do ?I remember the hymns when I grew up in Dumbarton Scotland could be heard two streets away beautiful inspiring music what happened ?who do you complain to ? canyou complain. We spend winterrs in Florida and their hymns are fantastic beautiful lyrics and tunes everone can really get their lungs going so it must be a regional choice
Thinking of walking back to the pew, I’m usually looking ahead, head slightly down, thinking about how beautiful what just happened was, but no, I’m not smiling.
Like a previous post stated, it’s reverance. It’s humility, it’s joy in a form that isn’t silly-smiley-grinning ear-to-ear.
Once returning to the pew I pray.
Mass in general can be overwhelming to the spirit, and I often times struggle to hold back tears… sometimes I don’t even know why I’m crying, I just feel such a sense of calm, and inner peace while I’m at mass.
It’s very hard to describe… so perhaps some might find that depressing. I don’t. I can’t wait to go to Mass every Sunday, in fact, I’ve found that since returning to regular attendance I look forward to it every week.
