Why does everybody here seem to think that something can be identical to nothing?

Its like I have entered the twilight zone when I enter this forum, because so many people, even Catholics, tend to view nothing as actually something expressing an objective ontology.

Why is it so difficult for people to grasp that nothing means absolutely nothing, and nothing more? Why do they fail to differentiate between the scientific concept of a vacuum and the metaphysical concept of nothing.

People on this forum seem to never fail in confusing scientific concepts with metaphysical absolutes.

It seems only a very small hand full (perhaps 3 or 4) of Catholics posting here have any idea what metaphysics actually teaches.

I my self have only a basic understand of metaphysics and science and yet I grasp what is meant by the word nothing.

Am I missing something?

Well, your post does seem to have a firm grasp of nothing.
:rotfl:

To the OP, I am kind of lost… did this stem from another discussion on a different thread? Could you provide a link or something?

One or two examples may help me to understand what you are talking about.

Would the three or four Catholics who understand metaphysics please explain?

Because there is literally “nothing” to wrap one’s mind around???

At least the physical vacuum, and the mathematical zero, have an objective reality to them.

but then again, I am a nonphilosopher and proud of it:)
