Those shows may be cancelled, but for the most part, they have just morphed into something else, if you notice there is still plenty of sources that report on this kind of news, TMZ is the prominent one I can think of.
There are quite a few people that follow this kind of news more so than world or local news, it is THAT important to them!
I cannot prove it, but I have a feeling a lot of this news is entirely fabricated, for a specific purpose.
