Why does it too often come down to sexual licentiousness for dissention?

Why does it too often seem that sexual licentiousness is the breaking point for dissention and refusal to obey Church teaching amongst otherwise good Catholics and would be Catholic converts. Why is this I wonder? Is this a sign of our times, or is this the primal clincher of our fallen human nature that revolts against the cross and refusal to submit?

I think it is the general hedonism of our society, as well as disrespect for the potential of life. And not wanting to own one’s own actions, hence “right to abortion” B-S.

I have heard it said that since it is a growing trend for people to wait to get married, they want to fool around in the meantime as well (which appies to the first two mentioned above).

Part of it is many people are unwilling to live up to that standard because the flesh is such a great temptation. It’s easier to justify the sin that forsake it. For others, i think it is the culture of relativism that makes them unwilling to tell others that what they do is wrong. For young people, it is being thought “uncool” in large part, despite all the evidence they see that the sexual culture is more trouble than it’s worth. I think it was Our Lady of Fatima who said more people burn in hell for sins of the flesh than any other offense. The marital embrace is so awesome and our prideful society wants the prize without the responsibility. American culture is about now. I don’t know; go ask your mother.

Our sexuality is one of the greatest pleasures we experience on Earth. It is a promise of happiness, and subconscoiusly, people feel like like you are taking the hope of happiness from them.

Because an outside authority is imposing rules of conduct upon people within the very most private areas of their own homes or relationships…

It’s because many people are ruled by their passions. They also do not want to surrender their ENTIRE lives to Christ. They want to do whatever they want in at least one part of life–and since that part is most susceptible to the passions, that is where they keep Him out.

The big moral battle of the modern times is God vs. Sex. Modern Western Culture especially the media is biased towards sex and is has its influence on populace leading many astray from God.
