Darron, like Tweety I have. And I suspect others have taken the time to as well. Don’t worry. I don’t see hate or lies from you. Peace. For anyone interested: before you take these two individuals’ characterizations of me at face value, please read the entirety of my posts on this thread.
Thank you.
According to your words CMATT25 all this is the truth. Not exactly.
In other church groups, if a clergy pervert molests a kid, as a norm s/he will be reported to the authorities for prosecution. The resources of that church group will not be complicit in a cover up, or to protect the guilty from justice. That means if an abuse happens, in the vast majority of cases, it is going to be reported.
In the current practice of the RC Church, every effort is made to keep these offenses hidden and the pervert protected from justice. Law enforcement is not cooperated with. The resources of the RC Church will normally be used to keep abuse from being found out.
The comparison cited is based upon reported figures. As a consequence, it is not correct. In other church groups, the figures are going to be nearly complete, but for the RC Church, they are not: there are significantly more.
I think practicing Catholics make a great contribution to the Lord’s work here on the earth. However, I think we have to be fair: it is not fair to try topaint' outside church groups with thebrush’ of comparability to the RC Church on kid safety.
I really wish the Vatican would help the RC Church and simply mandate that local parishes are to follow applicable law on these things. I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would be so resistant to doing what is right on this. It is a blight on a church group full of good Christians.
I also read Darron’s post here.According to your words CMATT25 all this is the truth.
So far; you haven’t corrected anyone; you have just called them names. Actually; I don’t count people like you as true Catholics. I have learned NOTHING about Catholicism from you…but I have learned other things. Not sure if I’ll write home to Mom about what I have learned though. I feel nothing but hatred and venom from you - and you have the nerve to call what you do “truth.” Hmmmmaybe you are just showing us what not to do?**Again – you haven’t **been here long enough to know how some of these people operate – in the sense that they have been informed of the REAL beliefs of the Church. After having been informed of what we actually believe - they CHOOSE to continue to spread the lie instead of taking our word that these are falsehoods, or perhaps visiting an online version of the catechism about them.
**Many of the people you **that you claim I am uncharitable towards are the very people I have just described. I have spoken with dozens of other people on this forum who agree, as do the Scriptures (1 Thess. 5:14), that the unruly should be admonished.
If you wish to continue to call me out every time I correct one of them – so be it. You seem like a nice enough person – if not, ever-so-slightly misdirected.
Your brother in Christ,
Elvisman
The authority for the Church is the Word of God. All “Tradition” is derived from His written Word. If the tradition you speak of is not in the Bible; then it has no authority but the Church; but the church’s authority is never portrayed as separate from that of God’s Word. These two authorities are one and the same, and never independent of the other. And that Parent “preaches” the word…in order to interpret passages correctly in order to “preach” the word…you need an authority to keep you on track…that would be the Church!
I’m sorry, I don’t get what you mean? Did something happen on this thread? Because I haven’t read it all yetYes Mariah, but when I explain about honoring and remembering Mary, not worshiping statues or explain how an indulgence does not save but lessens the purgatorial punishment of sin aleady forgiven as the Catholic Church teaches, I am still accused of hate.![]()
Dude, I always feel misunderstood on here…I was repling to the OP…the title of the thread is why does one hate the Catholic Church, I was just using the word he was using. I’m ex SDA btw, we have common groundOnce again; you attach the word “hatred” to simple disagreements or, in your view “ignorance and misunderstanding.” Either or; calling it “hatred” just doesn’t fit, and puts you in the same category as Mr Chick.
Hi…well I used to be a SDA and we used to have like “special” Sabbaths where elders/pastor would make powerpoint presentations about how the CC is pagan, the whore of Babylon, it’s corrupt, bishops and whatnot are only in it for the money (LOL…seriously), the pope is the anti-Christ, all that stuff and I had been reading some anti-Catholic stuff on the internet but for some reason one day it clicked and I was like this can’t be true there’s no way they blatantly do unChristian things so I looked into it and did my researched and prayed and became convinced that the CC is the one true church founded by Jesus Christ, the more I know and understand the doctrines the more I believe so now I’m in RCIA and I’ll be baptised EasterThank you for putting your response in a no-nonsense and POLITE manner. I understand you used the word “hate” as it was from the OP not your own word choice.
You list yourself as a “future Catholic”. What was it about the Church that made the difference for you? I have read many stories of conversion so I am very interested. I believe conversion stories offer tremendous help for non-Catholics in overcoming their distaste for the Church.
No problem on my end. I am not aware of anything that you did wrong.Dude, I always feel misunderstood on here…I was repling to the OP…the title of the thread is why does one hate the Catholic Church, I was just using the word he was using. I’m ex SDA btw, we have common groundsorry for the misunderstanding
No I never hated them at all! I believe my feelings were something along the lines of “man they’re messed up” maybe not using such polite words, lol. But fortunately now I see the error in that, but never hatred. And I don’t think most people who are against or in disagreement with the CC actually hate eitherNo problem on my end. I am not aware of anything that you did wrong.
I will say though that by your post above I can see you have had some big changes in your spiritual life and beliefs. And since this topic is about why people supposedly hate the Catholic Church, can you honestly say that you really hated them when you believed certain teachings about antichrist, mark of the beast, etc?
The SDAs I know don’t hate Catholic people. No problem on my end. I am not aware of anything that you did wrong.

Thats the only point I was trying to make and it is good to see someone who was an Adventist come out and say that. Hatred is rarely a part of it.No I never hated them at all! I don’t look at it, when correctly understood, as any more negative than anyone else who disagrees with one another. It’s not necessarily 'wrong" or “hate” when we feel that a belief is not from God, and that the devil is behind that belief. Catholics do it all the time too. Thats what this forum is all about; and there are only a few here whom I really feel hate me. Most of them are just trying to do like me and stand up for what they believe. They have done nothing at all to offend me.No they don’t but there is a little too much negative focus for my comfort. I mean I’m not talking about one specific SDA church, I’m talking about several…they also had alot of anti-Catholic like pamphlets and stuff. It was kind of strange maybe it’s just my area![]()
Yeah but like when you’re talking about someone being the anti-Christ, to me that’s the worst thing you could ever be called or accused of. You’ve got to admit, it’s a bit of a different situation than say someone thinking baptism is symbolic and disagreeing with the Catholic view of it, n’est-ce pas?I don’t look at it, when correctly understood, as any more negative than anyone else who disagrees with one another. It’s not necessarily 'wrong" or “hate” when we feel that a belief is not from God, and that the devil is behind that belief. Catholics do it all the time too. Interesting conversations. First off, how are we building the church by saying one is going to hell when a human really doesn’t know your state of salvation? Many catholics will say that because you are not catholic, yet the Vatican has recognized that their is salvation outside the catholic church. Well, from my experience going to a catholic church for the past six months, the clergy (my priest) has a very strong understanding of biblical truth, but many of the catholics who fill the pews aren’t very sound when it comes to biblical knowledge. Example:People hate the Catholic Church for the same reasons that some Catholics hate Protestants. Ignorance and closed-mindedness. WE are all Christians born of the same cloth. Although we may disagree on a lot of things, Christ said that He was the Way, the Truth, and the Light. And that if you believe in Him that you shall not die, but have life everlasting.
I grew up in churches that said that “Catholics go to Hell.”
My dad was Catholic and we all left that church immediately (My father got in trouble for marrying a Protestant, he was asked to leave the Catholic Church).
I had a Catholic friend that one day told me that I am going to Hell just because I’m Protestant.
I am no longer his friend.
And yet I remain open to the idea of Catholicism due to my own journey to overcome a prejudice that I was surrounded by.
I know that’s a lot of talk, but I hope it kinda helps.
Well; I don’t care to change anyone’s mind on this. I can only say what I know and believe. I see many of the views of the Catholic Church as pretty well equal to the worst of our’s you could name. But it’s all in how people choose to react to other beliefs. You can call it “hate” or you can call it what it actually is, which in 99% of cases is the opposite of hate, There isn’t a Catholic on this earth or on this forum who wouldn’t try to warn me if they thought something I believed was of the devil. And some have already tried. Do I look at that as “hate,” or do I choose to see it as them being concerned, and having a love for my soul? I have chosen to believe the latter; and I don’t see why Catholics cannot do the same - in fact I know many that do. That’s why I have been on this forum for 4 years.Yeah but like when you’re talking about someone being the anti-Christ, to me that’s the worst thing you could ever be called or accused of. You’ve got to admit, it’s a bit of a different situation than say someone thinking baptism is symbolic and disagreeing with the Catholic view of it, n’est-ce pas?![]()
If you haven’t klearned anything about Catholicism from me or anybody else here - it because you have closed your mind and your heart to the truth. So far; you haven’t corrected anyone; you have just called them names. Actually; I don’t count people like you as true Catholics. I have learned NOTHING about Catholicism from you…but I have learned other things. Not sure if I’ll write home to Mom about what I have learned though. I for one do not hate you. I consider you a dear brother in Christ. What we all need to do is stand up for Jesus, not al the yadayada. Love is the most important thing we should show to one another. Sometimes not enough of it is shown here as well as in our world.I don’t look at it, when correctly understood, as any more negative than anyone else who disagrees with one another. It’s not necessarily 'wrong" or “hate” when we feel that a belief is not from God, and that the devil is behind that belief. Catholics do it all the time too. Do you hate these parctices/beleifs of the Chruch, which, according to SDA teachings, lead people to hell.No problem on my end. I am not aware of anything that you did wrong.
