I just had a thought after reading the words ‘abortion comes from Satan.’ My question is, why?

God doesn’t accept abortion even if the baby’s soul will be sent to heaven like many would hope. Even if they would go to heaven killing them would be wrong, even directly after baptism.

Why does satan promote abortion? If the baby goes straight to heaven, shouldn’t he be trying to prevent abortions and instead try to corrupt the babies in other ways than allowing a direct pass to heaven?

I’m thinking, this might infer Satan thinks one of these three separate ideas:
  1. Babies who are aborted don’t go to heaven.
  2. Killing millions of babies will cause even more millions people’s souls to get sent to hell than the babies themselves for supporting abortion or being tempted and sinning in the culture of death legalized abortion creates.
3: Even if he doesn’t get as many people’s souls as babies he allows a free pass to heaven with none of his temptations, he enjoys killing that many children to anger God.

Just thoughts I had. I don’t believe #1 is true, I think #2 is the best bet, and for #3 I think Satan cares more about eternal souls than human death.

I think you got it right with this one… although another thing leading into abortion, which you might consider as the corner stone for the Pro-Death movement, is contraception, which feeds the cycle and the whole contraception, free love, lifestyle hurts the church even before any actual aboration occurs by pulling the young away.

I have thought of this myself. Something to the effect of…why would satan want all those babies in heaven as part of God’s prayerful army?

I guess we have to understand that satan has already lost. He knows this. He is now desperate to take as many human casualties as he possibly can. If humans accepted life at conception, and the dignity of every life - I mean if we really grasped that, many humans would not have so much room for the sin and distraction that are there now.
Abortion and contraception and the accompanying mentality have managed to tear apart families and separate man and woman in ways that no political force or army in history has been able to accomplish. It has introduced a spiritual and moral apathy and broken down defenses in a way that has never happened before, we are so ripe for satan’s picking. The snowball effect of abortion and contraception has taken far more souls down to hell with it that the actual number of abortions that may have lifted the unborn to heaven. With no family unit and no value on sexuality apart from the wordly value everything is foggy, truth is subjective and that is where the devil does his best work.

Have you ever met a woman who has had an abortion…very often there is almost something noticeable about how torn up she is. The devil uses these women like a spiritual chew toy. They are tossed about in guilt, confusion and sometimes a protective form of pride and anger. I don’t think satan would give that power up, even if it means a little baby floats up into Father’s lap.

I have a feeling this is right too. Satan is pure evil yes, but not stupid evil - being probably the most intelligent being besides God, he obviously feels that the souls he loses number less than the souls he gains, or the souls he ‘gains’ are worth more to him than normal because of the hideousness of killing unborn children (and feeling good about it.)

I just remembered the end of Constantine, how Satan removed his cancer to give him another chance to condemn himself to hell.

Abortion is satanic. At the black mass/witch’s sabbath according to some sources they slit babies throat and put the baby in the cauldron and then have an orgie and desecrate the host. They throw hosts on the floor. Some witches believe the fat of an unbaptised baby can make them fly so it’s also related to paganism in general. This basically means they get their orgasms from killing babies.

put it this way - an abortion might send a baby’s soul to heaven, but it sends many more people’s souls to hell.

Let’s think about just how many - the abortionists, the staff who assist them, the mothers and/or fathers of the aborted children, other people who advise the procuring of the abortions, drive the girls to the abortion clinics and whatnot … then you’ve got your politicians and other activists who advocate or legislate for abortion as a ‘right’ … that’s a long list of people whose souls are jeopardised, probably far outnumbering the babies whose souls might go to heaven.

Although Constantine was just a movie, I see your point. I think however that Satan works for the greater evil… he can lose one soul to get many. Chances are he got the people that aborted, and if they are young he has lured in some of the parents and others that counseled for the abortion, not to mention the doctors, staff, politicians and voting public that put them in place. The law enforcements officials that defend it and the doctors, teachers and counselors that teach the seed of abortion, which is contraception.

Another group, and likely the saddest caught up in this, is the ministry and those that do not counsel their flocks on the evils of the seed. They will lecture about adultery and abortion and pornography, but not the condom or the pill.

They are all one package… a giant circle of “Death”

he is playing the odds, buy corrupting the entire culture and bringing in line with his death star plan on all fronts, beginning with abortion, and encompassing all social policy and personal “choice” that prefer death over life, and degredation over human diginity, he wins a bigger victory than that of the individual souls of those babies. He can effectively emasculate the religion of a majority of Christians into a mocking shell that does more damage than all the atheists of the world, as he has achieved in all western societies. he has another coveted black mark in that in a single stroke he also nullified the US Constitution one of the last secular bastions against his program

Your thinking about this too much in terms of an individual soul (that said, we have no way of knowing for sure where aborted babies go). Even if they go to heaven, that isn’t the issue. Abortion is the most grevious sin, sin hardens our hearts to God. By pushing abortion Satan is pushing to harden our hearts, desensitise us to murder. This will gradually (and has been gradually) filter down to other forms of murder, such as assited sucide. In fact we’ve seen a slow, fairly slient movement in this nation to pass laws allowing the practice. I beleive Washington state was the last to pass such a law. Certainly I think we can agree that the person who decides to “under go the procedure” is in the most grave danger of never seeing the beatific vision, and the person performing it is hardening his own heart, and thus minimizing the chances they will see it as well.

That’s the role of abortion in satan’s ultimatly futal (he’s already lost, doesn’t mean he isn’t going to stop fighting) war against the lamb of God. For satan the end game simply put, is to prevent as many souls as possible from expereincing glorious communion with God. Abortion is one very effective means of this.

No baptism, no heaven, right? So all aborted babies don’t go to heaven, since baptism is a condition to enter the kingdom…and no baptism by desire, since they have no faculties and the abortee is thinking of their unborn as a curse…

Once the ideal of a mothers love for her child is corrupted, the family and society will soon follow. Sadly, It seems like an excellent plan to me.

this is not Catholic teaching, which has been explored many times here if you care to do a search. we entrust all infants who die without baptism to God’s mercy–which is kinder than most humans would allow

Well, kinda sorta Annie. The church admits baptism is required for entrance to the kingdom. We can’t know for sure the fate of unbaptized babies, but we ‘hope’ that they make it there due to God’s mercy.

The wording is very significant. The Church can’t say say absolutely yes. We can say absolutely yes if a baby is baptized and dies on the way back home, as baptism wipes away original sin, and the baby is incapable of sinning on it’s own. All the pieces fit there, and tie into theology.

But we can simply ‘hope’ on the other option.

You’re forgetting the most obvious thing - the number of souls those children would live to convert, if they were to become Christians, and, even if they don’t become Christians, the many positive contributions that they would make to society generally, in their ordinary daily activities. Also, by killing the child, Satan is eliminating the possibility of a whole line of generations in that family - generations that would have made positive contributions to society and to God’s Kingdom both in Heaven and on earth.

Think of the number of great Saints who will now never be born, because their ancestor was killed in the womb.

Abortion is both an intent and a physical reality that results in death. Leaving intent aside for a moment, let’s focus on the reality. A body dies - that happens all the time for all of us from old age to infirmaties to natural disasters, etc. Does Satan promote these deaths as well? The answer is complex, and I don’t know it. Satan probably glories in bodily death, but surely as an intelligent creature, he must see it as a precursor to eternal life, thus categorizing it as morally neutral. Therefore, I have a hard time imagining Satan rejoicing in abortion for physical death’s sake. As mentioned on this thread several times already, we entrust the souls of aborted babies to God’s mercy, who will judge them according to his infinite justness (that does not entail necessary salvation by any stretch, but nevertheless I am of good hope for their salvation).

Turning to intent - if Satan rejoices in abortion, it must be here. If an individual intends to abort its child, but it survives nonetheless, physical death didn’t occur, but Satan can still rejoice in the grevious sin involved. What is that sin? Since I don’t have the abortion mentality, it’s hard for me to fathom. Right now, I honestly believe that some mothers do not intend to kill what is alive and human; rather they go through the procedure in ignorance on the science. Perhaps culpable ignorance, no doubt that must be considered. Does every mother know deep down inside that it is murder? I don’t know. Now, if there is no mortal sin in there due to lack of knowledge, why would Satan want to increase abortion? What is more likely the case is that, even without a lawful charge of willful murder, there is even deeper sin involved. Sins of avarice/envy (the embryo is destroying my lifestyle), anger (how dare the embryo cause X to happen), lust (what happens to my lovemaking if I bring this embryo to term), sloth (I don’t have the time and energy to deal with this embryo), gluttony (the embryo will drain my resources), and pride (I know what the church says, but it can’t tell me what to do to my own body).

Ultimately, I’m just guessing, but these latter sins only within the context of abortion are probably what feeds the devil’s appetite more than the physical reality of the death procedure itself. Still, I’m not sure knowing the devil’s motives on this case would lead to any kind of prevention plan. If you could isolate a cause for the devil’s motivation, what would you do with that knowledge?

God save us all!

I’m thinking that it goes back to, what were we put on the earth to do?

In the original Creation, Adam was placed on the earth to till the garden and care for the animals. Eve was given to him to help him with his work, and to bear and care for his children.

Every time a child is aborted, there is some work on the earth that will not get done.

Additionally, we have the New Covenant in Christ, in which additional reasons that we exist are to know God, to love God, to obey God in this world, and to be happy with Him in the next.

So, every child aborted is one less person who will know and love God, or who will obey Him in this life - and as someone pointed out above, we don’t know whether or not they will be happy with Him in the next (although certainly everything we understand about God’s love points to the idea that they will, in fact, experience at least some kind of happiness in the next life).

Every person that Satan can keep from living out his or her life on the earth takes something away from God, and I am thinking that it is as simple as that person doing God’s work on the earth, whatever it was that God designed that person to do.

Some folks are assuming that Satan believes he loses in the end. He does not. He believes he has not only a chance but a particularly good one. Pride at his level does that. He does what is in opposition to God’s will to undermine things.

I thought Pacino in “The Devil’s Advocate” did a good job at the end of the film personifying the Devil’s pride and temptations.

This is not exactly right…invincible ignorance does not require baptism. The Church teaches that only those that know better, would be required…

Please note from the CCC…

How are we to understand this affirmation, often repeated by the Church Fathers?335 Re-formulated positively, it means that all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body:

Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation; he is present to us in his body which is the Church. He himself explicitly asserted the necessity of faith and Baptism, and thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it.336

847
This affirmation is not aimed at those who, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ and his Church:

Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience—those too may achieve eternal salvation.337

I believe that aborted children go to Heaven. The Church doesn’t appear to have a :yup:“Yes, they do” or :nope:“No, they don’t” answer to this. She hopes, as we all do, that they do. Baptism through blood would seem to qualify in my opinion. But it would seem to be one of those “Mysteries” we will only understand when we unite with our Creator.:heaven:
Two things I do know: the devil wants what God wants … us. To do this he will cloak sin in the finest cloth, tempt us with it, and, if, we accept it he will deceive us into believing we can’t turn back (repent and reconcile with God) because we asked for that which he gave us. Never mind we didn’t quite notice the putrid mass under the fabric. Not quite. The devil offers the same sin over and over and we fall for it every time. He fell from grace because of it and will forever tempt us to do the same. He did it to our first parents!
Abortion is promoted by satan because, if we care to meditate on it, PRIDE is the driving force behind that which tempts us to err. ( Read up a few posts.) He perverts all that is Good. And if he can get us to concentrate on the “why’s” of this worlds sins he will have effectively distracted us from what is really important: GOD and our obedience to Him.
Second: As Fr. Corapis’ mother reminded him once, after a particularly difficult day, “I have read the Book and in the end … we win!”.👍
Forget the “why” and concentrate on spreading the Good News of Jesus the Christ.:bible1: If people really understood what JOY was we would get just that much closer to a loving society instead of a spiritually dying one.
J = Jesus = first
O = Others = second
Y = You = last
Sorry about going on and on. Hope this helps.
