I still wonder about angels. Like how they guide us. How many angels are there? Do they each have different gifts to guide us? etc etc.

Why do we not get taught these things?

Thank you for (name removed by moderator)ut! God bless.

We teach what we know. Some things God has not revealed to us about their nature.

Peter Kreeft has a great lecture about the nature of angels available on Youtube.

The church does teach about angels, just not so often in the pulpit, which I think that’s how it should be as our focus should not be on angels.

There is a good book about angels by Neumann press, written by Dom Anscar Vonier, O.S.B. it compiles a lot of information known about angels.

Hope that helps!

The Church does have teachings about Angels. For starters, the Catechism teaches a little bit about angels in paragraphs 325 - 354. Plus, I’m sure Catholic Answers has plenty of info about them and there are books out there. If I find a good book, I will pass it on.

God Bless

There is lot out there to read about angels. ‘Send me your Guardian Angel’ by Fr Alessio Parente (I hope I have got the authors name right) is a good book to read. It’s a small book with beautiful stories, including some info on the choir of angels.

Fr Alessio assisted Padre Pio in his old age. The stories are beautiful, some to do with Padre Pio and his Guardian angel. This book explains what a beautiful celestial being we have besides us to help and guide us daily.

One of the nice things I read was, when you cannot go to mass lets say because you are ill, send your Guardian angel to take your place. Another is, if you fall asleep while saying the rosary, your guardian angel finishes it for you.

I have often ‘lost’ my copy of this book, by lending it to others, where they have kept it for years, then when I find my book missing and can’t remember who I’ve given it to, I ask my guardian angel to bring it back. The book, has always returned ! My guardian angel has been a great help.

The Church DOES teach about angels. Haven’t you read the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

See attached link and scroll down to Angels:

Not only does it teach about angels, there are also prayers. Like, the Angel of God prayer…I wasn’t raised Catholic (mom kinda was) and that was one of the first prayers I learned growing up. Also, here’s a link to many angel prayers. Maybe that can help you some. 🙂

This Tuesday, my study group is finishing A Scriptural Study of Angels: Part 1, Entertaining Angels , Part 2, Angels through the Ages; by Catholic Scripture Study International.

It’s an interesting study, overall, not a bad study with some minor problems. The study had some bad study questions, lingered too long on pagan mythology to introduce demons, generally, more good than bad. You do have to go through the bad to get to the good.
