Why does this happen?

(And I hope this is the right forum to ask such a question).

Maybe this is just my own limited experience, but when we entered the Church, we faced some challenges. (I can elaborate later).

Now two dear friends are returning to the Church after many years, and it seems that almost instantaneously, they are facing what may be a serious medical issue (though I pray that it’s nothing serious).

Why does this happen? And how do I deal with the fear this engenders? 😦

Your post is way too vague. You’ll need to elaborate and better explain your problem/dilemma

Two family members became seriously ill. One died. On the night - almost to the moment- of our confirmation an acquaintance was killed.

Do other people face these challenges upon entering/re-entering the church?

Or do you need further elaboration?

Satan will do anything he can to prevent someone from entering the Church. If someone comes into the Church, Satan knows he has lost that soul, and he is bad loser! We tell our RCIA students that they can expect stuff to happen as they come closer to entering the Church. Sometimes stuff happens, and sometimes it doesn’t. Prayer is the best antidote. God will allow a soul to be tempted, but he won’t allow it to be lost unless the person chooses.

Peace,
Linda

Perhaps God is being merciful in bringing us to the right place prior to some of the very problems/issues our faith addresses?

I am sorry for your lost, but look on the bright side - what would’ve happened if the 2 members had not gone back to the Church? God did not abandon us but call us back Home before our lives end here on us. Your family members responded to His call. God is merciful and loving.

Short answer: some do; some don’t. The “lesson” from such things will be unique to each person. Generalizations are not apt.

Thanks. This post means a lot to me—I wish our own RCIA team had mentioned someting like that.
