Why doesn't Jesus want Mary to touch Him?

In John 20:17, Jesus tell Mary Magdalene to “Stop holding on to me for I have not yet gone to the Father”. Why doesn’t Jesus want Mary to touch Him? What difference does it make if Mary touches Him?

I thought Jesus went to the Father when He ascended forty days after His resurrection?
