Why doesn't Michael Voris appear on EWTN?

No. It is a stupid song, in my opinion, but bad poetry does not heresy make.

The song does not deny that the Catholic Church exists.
No, it doesn’t deny that the Catholic Church exists, it postualtes that a new one needs to be sung into being. Do you listen to the words? You can “rolleyes” all you want but anybidy who thinks the Church is in good shape is simply deluded.

And when we sing in church we are praying. DId you know that? To have a congregation pray that a new church needs to be sung into being is to legitimize heresy.

You best openeyes instead of rolling them and get the photo. Throw your guitar out in the yard and get with the program, Fr. Berrigan is not on the program today.

Heresy is post baptismal denial of truth which must be believed, none of which has to do with either music or liturgical discipline.

I see that all this criticism is directed against legitimate authority of the Roman Catholic Church in America, not some splinter group. Perhaps instead of the liturgical specks that we see in the shepherds we should be more concerned with the beams of slander against the Bride of Christ. The sheep do not authority to make such outlandish accusations.
Yes, I find it pretty arrogant myself.

I’m with you that much of the parish music out there is pretty abyssmal but don’t generalize problematic song lyrics to institutional doctrinal error.

It’s a mountain out of a mole hill. Those songs from the 70’s and 80’s are slowly passing away anyway. . . . .

No, it doesn’t deny that the Catholic Church exists…
Then it is incorrect to say that it denies “the extant Catholic Church.” Saying something untrue is not a good way to convince me that it is me that I need to open my eyes. When people have to lie and exaggerate, to throw words like heresy around where heresy does not exist, to engage in slander and calmuny instead of charity, then I will not believe their opinion about the state of the Catholic Church, even that small branch with is in America.

Fortunately, neither are any of the posters here that insult and slander Catholic bishops and priests that do not conform to their extreme views of what tradition is, in violation of Tradition. They too are not on my program. As I have a thousand people whose opinions matter some, and one priest whose authority matters even more, I will ignore your suggestion, keep my guitar, and stay with the program that is actually being led by the Holy Spirit.

Kum Ba Yah and peace out.

If we do not follow tradition than we fall in with all denominations who do not follow tradition but make up thier own to suite them. I see M. Voris bringing light to the abuse. I just viewed his latest relese on washing of the feet at Holy Thursday Mass , I then went to read the Vatican Document , along with wrong doings in respect to the practice of foot washing it has opened my eyes to other mistakes being made. I have E-Mailed my Bishop & Parish Priest to get thier opinions on these issuse and I am waiting for a reply which I hope to get maybe after Holy Week as they are very busy right now.

If all he did was bring light to abuse, I wouldn’t take issue with his reporting.

I’d say closer to heretical. You’ll be able to see it (“it” does not specifically identify itself, it prefers to introduce and influence, cf. “Sing a New Church Into Being”) in action on Holy Thursday if, in the parish you attend, the washing of the feet involves more than the priest (or bishop) and 12 MEN.

If the rite involves the whole attendance at the mass you’ve got an American Catholic situation on your hands.

Many years ago, I was asked to participate in the foot washing ritual. I had my feet washed, I believe a man did it. Does it matter whose feet get washed or is it just that only men should do the washing?

That parish is very “modern” or unorthodox.

Boy! You’re good a cutting and pasting to get the desired effect! Really, good. Not denying that the Catholic Church exists does not imply that one agrees that that Church is the Church Christ founded. You think Dawkins doesn’t admit the Catholic Church exists?

Say, how’s the CCD program at your parish? Pretty stout stuff? And the Holy Spirit only likes guitars in the hands of Jimmy Buffett. I have yet to hear one played by an accomplished guitarist at Mass. My daughter, who de-poped over such shenanigans as you tolerate, however, plays hers to great effect at the Evangelical community. Think about it…they’re not much on tambourines, having moved into the 2ist century, but you might look good in the lazer light show flashes.

The Rite calls for the washing of the feet of 12 MEN, by the priest or bishop (only, no deacon). It is the commemoration of the Last Supper and the institution of the priesthood. That’s what it’s about, not the feeling good of everybody in the building.

It is an optional ritual. In my view, if the sensitivities of the time and place do not allow proper execution of the Rite, i.e., if Aunt Maude is going away mad because Mary Brown didn’t wash her feet, then the whole thing should be shelved until society evolves to the proper understanding of just what in the world we’re there to celebrate. Oddly enough, it’s not about US, now I’ll suffer the slings and arrows of outraged fortune.

Thank you for the clarification. I really wasn’t aware of that aspect of Jesus’ establishing the priesthood, but it makes sense in the context. As I recall, the priest did not take part at all, it was (perhaps) the Deacon and a few other men, maybe the Knights? It’s been years now and I have never seen it done again. Maybe people who knew better complained, although that hasn’t made a dent in the parish priest’s practices (like that alliteration? :)) until now.

I, honestly, don’t see why the Church doesn’t shelve the whole thing as a pastoral effort to comvince people that the Mass and all liturgies mean something other than feel good goofballisms.

It’s not about us. Well, in Vienna, it’s all about us, but not where I live, nope, not where I live.

It is excellent.

I did not know he was Catholic. But we have a very nice liturgy, not that we put the emphasis on feelings. Mass is not all about us.

Michael Voris hits the nail on the head as surely as the sun rises.

I love the analogy that MV is the lay version of Corapi - another favourite of mine.

One of my favs is when MV said that “only Catholics are in Heaven”. 👍 youtube.com/user/RealCatholicTV?blend=1&ob=5#p/search/5/2Dcfj0PU_JQ

They even include the period after the picture of our Holy Father.
Amazing video!👍
Thanks for posting this link!
I agree & really like Michael Voris!

God Bless,

A matter of fact he is, I don’t think a very observant one, but one nonetheless. The Lord, on the other hand, is a music afficianado and he finds bad guitar playing rather awful.

Did He tell you this when He told you He was a parrothead?

If you ever join my parish, I will let you grade me and start considering your opinion on the matter.

“Voris appears very ready and willing to condemn…orthodox conservative Catholics when he gets the inclination.”

Unless you can back up this claim (which I doubt you can), this is slander against a good man whose first love is the Church and the salvation of souls.

As an orthodox, conservative Catholic myself, I would never cast such accusations without good cause. It brings me absolutely no joy to report negatively on Voris. I would much rather that he be on the rails. But I must speak the truth.

I will bring up some examples soon, when I can take a break to make a longer post.
