Last night I watched John Hagee with Kenneth Copeland explain the book of Revelation and end times. Of course he attacked the “Church Of Rome” with out ever saying the word Catholic even once. I think the word scares him or its his way of being P.C.

Anyways, with Bart Brewer gone and James White still attacking the “Roman Church”, I wonder why no one at Catholic Answers or any Catholic Apologetics group doesnt go after Hagee and his false theology and History.

He has more air time than White could dream of and he reaches millions of people on a weekly basis, yet we allow him to bash the Catholic Church. What I would like to see is some sort of response to his claims. Opinions?

why would catholics worry about people who hate the “church of rome”? That’s not us, so why should we care?

(i’m joking, of course, but it’s true… we aren’t the “Church of Rome”)

I caught him referring to the Church as the Whore of Babylon and turned him into the Catholic Civil Rights League and to the Catholic League.

I’m a cradle Catholic who also lives about 20 miles from Hagee’s church. I know a number of people who go there, and it saddens me to hear what some of them believe. I’ve known a lot of Evangelicals and am friends with many. On a micro level, they blow me away when it comes to knowledge of the Bible. They can quote chapter and verse. Unfortunately, many of them seem to have missed the big picture, especially what happened on Holy Thursday and Good Friday and how it set the stage for Easter. To me, that was always the real miracle, that God would send his Son to die for my sins and that His Son would willingly do so. Anyone can recite a quote out of context but to understand Holy Thursday and Good Friday is to understand just how loving God truly is.

It is because of a Hagee follower that I bought and read the Catechism of the Church, so in a very real sense John Hagee has made me a better Catholic and brought me closer to the Lord. I won’t ever set foot in His church, but I love the people who go there as my Christian brothers and sisters. I hope that if any of them are reading this, they’ll realize that what we have in common is far greater than our differences and I hope that they understand that there is not just one path to our Heavenly Father. There are many, but they all lead to Him through His Son.

Two of my in laws went to visit San Antonio and one of their huge quests was to get to see John Hagee in person (ie attend services). They were both devout lifelong older Roman Catholics but religiously watched him on TV.

He is a good speaker (great voice), funny, and so on. I certainly do not care for his theology.

Thats a weird one.

I try to listen to both sides (Protestant and Catholic) I like to hedge my bets.

It has been my experience that many protestants do “know” the Bible backwards and forwards, chapter and verse. problem is i have yet to come across one who understands it.

I caught the same episode you watched.

I seriously laughed when he stated that Constantine not only started Catholicism, but that he also crowned himself emperor AND Pope  Quick can someone tell me how long Constantine’s Pontificate lasted? 😃

Serious lack of any credibility with that guy.

God bless

I don’t even listen to him anymore, and I pay no attention to him either. His evangelization is a real turn off. He even called Pius XII an anti-Semite.

I wrote a scathing review of his book “Jerusalem Countdown” on Amazon.com!

BTW, if he’s hanging out with Kenneth Copeland now, there are more theological problems here than just his “End Times” theology! To call Copeland’s “doctrine” of the Atonement heterodox would be most generous!

Not only is that disgusting, it betrays an ignorance so deep and persistent in this unfortunate Hagee man that, if he were not damaging so many souls, I would feel sorry for him.

As a former evangelical Christian, I can say that most of the people in my churches didn’t consider Kenneth Copeland Biblical in his theology.

I know that there are a lot of fundamentalist Christians who watch Mr. Cppeland. But these are not the people who are writing the books, performing in the Christian rock bands, involved with politics, and trying to get out into the world to preach the Gospel (the very purpose of evangelicalism is to encourage Christiant to go OUT into the world). So perhaps–just my opinion–the Copeland watchers don’t have as much influence in society. They tend to be more isolationist and therefore, less of a threat to Catholics.

I must add that I believe many evangelicals THINK about going out into the world, but most of them don’t. They are too afraid of contamination, so instead, they stay safe in their churches and offer “seeker” services and other events that they hope will draw non-Christians to them.

And one more thing: no matter what you think of Kenneth Copeland’s theology, he is a wonderful singer and I have one of his albums. Great gospel voice, lots of power, and good rousing songs that aren’t “rock” music. Great to clean house by!

I know, he even called St. John Chrysostom anti-Semite too. He even called all the Church fathers anti-Semitic! Uggh! Pray for him.

Long ago I like to listen to him, but then I started seeing beyond his obvious public speaking talents and into the substance of what he was preaching (or maybe his message changed - not sure).

If he’d only stick up for fellow Christians (Catholics) the way he bends over backward making overtures to Jews, he’d be slightly less lacking in credibility than he is presently.

His views on Middle East politics and war etc. are almost as scary as the jihadists’. Once I heard it implied on his program (by a guest) that a nuclear attack (against the terrorists) is just the boost the war on terror needs! That was the last time his voice was heard in my living room.

I am not a “Hagee” fan, but I would have to dissagree here and bring up the FACT that there IS only ONE “path” to our Heavenly Father, not “many”.

To say that there are many paths to the Father, and they ALL lead to Him through His Son is to basically say the “Catholic Church” is not “Necessary” - that “It is not necessary to be Catholic in order to be saved”, that “You do not have to convert to Catholicism in order to be saved.”

You do not know how many people I know who were on the edge of conversion to the Catholic Faith and stopped short of conversion because they heard EXACTLY what you said here- that there are many other paths to God (other than the Catholic Religion) [parenthesis added]. A possible convert told me, “Well I have a huge problem with confession to a priest- therefore I am going to remain Baptist, no problem since the Catholic Church teaches I will be saved anyway.” This is during his RCIA, and got to the Sacraments part of his education.
