Why doesn't the Church call for more woman religious?

As the father of three daughters, I’m wondering why the Church does not call for women religious? We pray every week for more men to hear the call to the priesthood and, at least in my parish, we never hear for more women to hear the call to religious life.

I suspect that you are indeed experiencing a local phenomenon in your parish because my parish routinely includes an intercession for vocations to “the priesthood, diaconate, and religious life.” I suggest that you recommend to your pastor including a petition for vocations to the consecrated religious life in the general intercessions. He may simply not have thought of it and may appreciate your recommendation.
