Why doesn't the Church celebrate the birth of the Blessed Virgin?

How come the Catholic Church celebrates the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin but not her birth? Also, why does the Church celebrate the birth of Jesus but not his conception?

Actually, the Church celebrates the Nativity (i.e., birth) of the Blessed Virgin on September 8, and it celebrates the conception of Christ on March 25, the feast of the Annunciation (to Mary, of Christ’s conception).
