Next year will be 30 years since he passed away on the Feast of the Annunciation. Whether or not one agrees with him, he should at least have prayers for his soul.
Of course we can pray for him, and stop criticism.
It’s wrong to ignore the lessons of history. On the other hand, some people on both sides repeatedly zero in on
certain incidents to the exclusion of
other lesons, omitting data from recent trends and current information.
This thread was about choices individuals might make in 2020. Like on all SSPX threads, posters focused like a laser on certain incidents mid 70s and late 80s, and on the character of a man who is now deceased.
These threads tend ignore the options and decisions available in the present year, the topic of the thread. It’s implied that you shouldn’t support FSSP
now, because decades ago SSPX was the only TLM, or because the late Archbishop was a good guy.
Is there a good reason for an SSPX priest to minister there
in 2020, rather than in fssp?
Is there any reason for parents attached to SSPX to raise children in SSPX
now rather than connecting with a parish, with Diocesan TLM and other orthodox ministries in their diocese?
That would be a question to explore, focused on 2020 and future for those children.
