Why do Catholics not drink the wine during Holy Communion?

Hi,

I noticed that you are from Hayward, CA and had to answer one from my home town. Well, Catholics would not say that they drink the wine. For us it is no longer wine, even though from all appearances it seems so. We believe that at Mass it truly becomes the blood of the Lord.

I’m sure that the faithful do receive the Eucharist from the chalice in at least most of the Masses in the four Catholic parishes in Hayward. However, we further believe that if one receives the Eucharist in only one form (under the appearance of bread or wine) as in some Catholic parishes, he has received both the body and the blood of the Lord.
