Why don’t God punish people in hell for a finite time and then destroy them? Is it necessary to punish people in hell forever?
1056 Following the example of Christ, the Church warns the faithful of the “sad and lamentable reality of eternal death”, also called “hell.”
1057 Hell’s principal punishment consists of eternal separation from God in whom alone man can have the life and happiness for which he was created and for which he longs.
1037 God predestines no one to go to hell; for this, a willful turning away from God (a mortal sin) is necessary, and persistence in it until the end. In the Eucharistic liturgy and in the daily prayers of her faithful, the Church implores the mercy of God, who does not want “any to perish, but all to come to repentance”:
He does. It’s called, Purgatory. Why don’t God punish people in hell for a finite time
That’s called the Lake of Fire.and then destroy them?
It is difficult for human beings to comprehend that there is no time in eternity. Is it necessary to punish people in hell forever?
