The Disciples didn’t love children and Bishops, priests, preachers and pastors still don’t…

Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matt 19:14

People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them. Mark 10:16

*People were also bringing babies to Jesus to have him touch them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. * Luke 18:16

Jesus was indignant with the Disciples for their disregard of children. This very thing is still happening today with abortion. Most Bishops and Priests still refuse to bring unborn babies to Jesus and rebuke or ignore those who do. They are content to let the children die instead.

Jesus will again be indignant.

I agree some priests ad bishops could do more, or at least give the appearance of doing more.

However, aren’t thier some laws governing what non-profits can say about government officials and policies, or else risk thier tax exempt status? Maybe many feel that they can’t fully touch the issues with a forty foot pole.

What an odd analogy.

First of all, while the Disciples tried to keep the children from Jesus, this was before He gave them all of His teaching. They were brining children to Jesus in the early Church.

As for Priests and Bishops, how could they bring an unborn child to Jesus?

I don’t know a single priest or bishop who doesn’t love children - born and unborn.

do you have some evidence or reason for making this remarkable claim?

I’m also confused as to how anyone can “bring an unborn baby to Jesus”? Do you mean kidnap the pregnant woman going for the abortion and keep them captive in the church basement until birth? (I’m only being slightly facetious, here, I really don’t understand what you mean).

You also obviously don’t know EVERY Bishop, priest, preacher, or pastor. All three priests in my parish love children. We’re a huge parish, w/ tons of kids, so mass is always a bit noisy. They never complain, and always comment on the joyful noises the kids are making for the Lord. We have a very strong pro-life group in my church, and a huge sign outside advertising “Take my hand, not my life”, with a phone number to call for women in crisis pregnancies. Our Bishop (the totally awesome Raymond L. Burke), leads the Rosary in front of the local Planned Parenthood abortion mill like once a week, and is ALWAYS speaking out against “Catholic” public figures (politicians as well as celebrities and, most recently, the Jesuit college’s basketball coach) who support abortion or politicians who support abortion (and has publicly stated that he will NOT give communion, and has directed the priests in our diocese not to give communion, to these politicians should they visit a church here, and he’s received a ton of flack in the press for it), as well as other anti-life policies. For example, Burke was very vocal in his opposition (and in calling all Catholics to oppose) Missouri Proposition 2 (which, sadly, passed), which enshrined cloning and embryonic stem cell research in our constitution, and he has also told St. Louis Catholics to not support the Susan Komen foundation (“Race for the Cure”) because of their ties to Planned Parenthood. So, your assertion doesn’t match my experience in my parish or diocese.

In Christ,

Ellen

The souls of aborted babies go directly to the Sacred Heart of Jesus-

Perhaps it would be constructive for you to write your bishop and relate how you feel the Chuch is being negligent in the education of and truth of abortion being the deliberate taking of a human life.

Jesus was not indignant with the apostles over the children, the apostles were misguided in their attempt to keep young children from Jesus, as was their custom. Jesus corrected them and went further to admonish anyone from keeping children from following Him, and promised great punishment for anyone who would lead a child astray.

You seem to have a great passion for wanting to abolish the practice of killing babies-May God Bless you Always.

You really think the Apostles didn’t take Jesus’ words to heart after this and, seeing His own love for children, learn to imitate Him in this as in all things?

As for unborn babies - again I share the puzzlement as to how one could bring them to Jesus, but assume you mean that the Church should work harder on getting the anti-abortion message out.

You’re probably right, but it relies on US laity to do so as well, and that means you - I hope you’re active in pro-life issues yourself if you’re wanting other people to be.

Then again, in the US there are limits placed on how much religious leaders can say or do on political issues, and many can’t afford to go beyond those limits. This isn’t something to criticise them for, but instead we should pray that they find a way.

Hi - thanks for the replies…

Corki hit the nail on the head. Before the disciples received the Holy Spirit they disregarded children, they didn’t care about them or think them worthy of being blessed. Only after they received the Holy Spirit did they regard children as Jesus did.

The lesson is this - Bishops and priests who are not very actively pro-life and don’t go to the abortion clinic demonstrate the same lack of the Holy Spirit that the disciples did. (God bless Bishop Burke.)

Bishops and priests have been commanded by Jesus to “leave the 99 and go find the lost sheep”. They should be the first ones at the abortion clinic every morning. In North Carolina, Bishops and priests never do this they are content to let the babies die.

They are also content that aborted babies are not baptised into Christ - They are not brought to Christ. Most of them couldn’t care less if those babies are Baptised or not, or if they die a horrible death or not.

Aborted babies do not go to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Catachism says they are “entrusted to the mercy of God”. Jesus is still very indignant at Those Bishops and priests.

Pointing at religious leaders with no evidence is not a good way to discuss. Does one have to show up at an abortion clinic to prove that he/she loves children or supports pro-life?

Why not giving a example of a real evidence of someone in the leadership position who does not love children?

Correct me if I’m wrong here, but I always thought that the reason that the apostles kept the children from Jesus was because they didn’t want Him disturbed by all the requests made on His time. 🤷

Our current priest is nuts about kids. Our previous priest was, too. And the one who made such an impact on me when I was twelve was also very friendly and loving toward the kids.

Seems a matter of personal experience.

Our current Priest loves kids, and shock goes and prays at the abortion clinic every Saturday. In fact there is a note in bulletin every week to get people to go out there to counsel and pray. Yes, it does work.

.
how do you propose that a priest baptize an aborted baby? in canon law a dead person cannot be baptized. You are gifted to see into the heart of every bishop and priest so you know they don’t care about these innocents? You personally monitor the daily actions of every bishop and priest in NC so you are in a position to know whether any of them have ever prayed at an abortion clinic? If you have these supernatural powers why aren’t you doing more to end this evil?

I no longer pray infront of abortion clinics either, for reasons related to health which are none of your darn business anyhow, but I devote along with other worthy, informed anti-abortion activists, including many priests of the diocese, hours each week in combatting this evil by many means. you don’t know beans about what you are talking about
