Why don't we call Mary "St. Mary"?

Snark?

Disagreement should not be the cause for your uncharitability.

'Well thank you for setting Jesus straight, im (sic) sure he appreciates it"
(that was your remark to which I responded).
And that sentence wasn’t a little uncharitable in its tone, i.e. snarky?

I believe it was. Are you trying to tell me that you were sincerely thanking me for my post to which you responded??

Like others have said, she can be referred to as St. Mary and indeed, she is by some parishes. We have a church here with the title St. Mary, Mother of God Catholic Church.

and especially in the East, she has the title of Theotokos (God bearer) , which IMO, is the greatest title a human can have 🙂

To all: I don’t know how Our Lady as a title slipped my mind. Also, thanks for information on some parishes being named St. Mary after her. It’s all interesting stuff.

sometimes we do, here in Pittsburgh we have a number of “St. Mary” churches and cemeteries. St. Mary’s of Pine Creek, St. Mary of Mercy,St. Mary on the Mount, to name a few.

Mary was given many singular gifts and graces that allowed her to obtain such a degree of holiness that easily surpasses that of all the saints and angels.

I was looking at a calendar from my parish and noting the feast days when this kind of struck me. Every other saint, we call St. Name. But with Mary, we don’t have the preceding “Saint.” I’m just wondering about the origins of it.
Yes we do!

Not very commonly, but we most definitely do. Our own Cathedral of the Diocese of Calgary is known as St. Mary’s Cathedral or just St. Mary’s. Of course there are a lot of Marian mysteries, so this particular Cathedral’s principal patron is the Immaculate Conception.
