Why don't we see Moslems praying?

If u browse u will see some reports that US Police arrested Muslims to offer prayer inside the plane & how Pilot & passengers embarrased to see Muslims uttering Allahu Akbar ( only God is great).

You need to get the full story before you put one or another group as completely innocent or completely guilty. You need to know that what happened here was a direct result of actions the men made OTHER than their prayer.

Thankfully though, the incident DID get airports across the nation to install prayer rooms for just such an occasion so as not to incite violence by any groups.

Muslims must offer 5 daily prayers at a fixed time . Say afternoon prayer must be finished before sunset. So , sometimes we don’t have choice but to offer it in front of people. It’s not showoff .

On the last day , believers will be rewarded on the basis of their intention. If my intention is to impress people , then for my prayer , I won’t get any reward from God . So , our aim to to fulfill the duty to God .

we must not skip prayer with this fear that what people might think or say.

If u browse more , u will find other stories . Each time , Muslims were innocent , they just tried to offer prayers & either the airhostess or some passengers find them suspicious & called Police . May be , they did not like to hear ’ Allahu Akbar’ ?

For travellers, he/she can reduce the prayers to two in each one, in addition to that he/she can pray “Duhur & Aseer” together, and “Magreb & Isha” together, per these two authentic hadiths:

فرضت الصلاة ركعتين ركعتين في الحضر والسفر فأقرت صلاة السفر وزيد في صلاة الحضر ‏

Sahih Muslim, Book 004, Number 1458:
“'A’isha, the wife of the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him), reported: The prayer was prescribed as two rak’abs, two rak’ahs both in journey and at the place of residence. The prayer while travelling remained as it was (originally prescribed), but an addition was made in the prayer (observed) at the place of residence.”

I suspect that this kind of people are also trying to say that their religion is better than ours. Spiritually weak Christians will say how beautiful, how touching to see them pray.

Maybe what they are really doing is PREYING. Preying to entice people and make them believe that this false religion is really a peaceful one. Attract people to believe in the lies of muhammad and his quran.

I always wondered why muslims want Non muslim to work their businesses. One logical reason, as sited in the earlier post, Non muslims will not leave their work stations to pray like their hypocrite buddies.

I studied at a Catholic university (actually it is run by the Jesuit fathers), there is a room that is provided for Moslems (students and teachers) where they can pray. I have friends that I see going inside that room and pray! and again, you can find this inside a catholic university. Godbless everyone!

I have to say, I have been reading some these posts and they have been a bit harsh. I think we have to remember the question of the post.

As far as the question goes, I have seen Muslims praying. I have lived in the Middle East and I now live in Singapore. When I lived in Qatar, I would hear the call to prayer and watch most things come to a stop and people would indeed pray. Here in Singapore I have seen Muslims pray and it is not for audience as some would suggest, but as in all religions there are some that abide by rules piously and those who do so not so piously. Nevertheless, if you want to really see, I invite you to come here during Ramadan and you will see people converting as much space as they can in the local void decks ( large space under the buildings) for prayer as they can because they need to fulfill their religious obligation. However, I can tell you from experience those praying whom I have encountered do not do it for show.

i think it is not good to say it is show off. better to look at ourselves firsts before saying anything. If we say they do this just for show then we catholics are much worse. We can see this everyday, Masses can be seen in Television, prayers are posted everywhere, big churches that are built, some wearing expensive clothing while attending mass and so many others. So the muslims can safely, these catholics just do this for show! are we different? or worse?

Some Muslims …sadly… feel shy to offer prayer in public . They offer it later . It’s a very , very bad habit . We never know when we will die ; so we must not be late to do that is compulsory for us to do in time.

Duhur and Aseer?

Anyway, Maghrib is 3 raka’at and cannot be shortened to 2. Dhuhr, Asr, and Isha are 4 so they can be shortened to 2 for a person who is travelling.

When I’ve travelled by plane I usually ended up having to pray in the airport. I will typically let people around me know (if it’s crowded) so nobody flips out.

صلاة المسافر
ولما كان السفر مظنة المشقة غالبا خففت أحكامه فمن ذلك :

1- جواز التيمم للمسافر إذا لم يجد الماء . أو كان معه من الماء ما يحتاجه لأكله وشربه , لكن متى غلب على ظنه أنه يصل إلى الماء قبل خروج الوقت المختار فالأفضل تأخير الصلاة حتى يصل إلى الماء ليتطهر به .

2- أن المشروع في حق المسافر أن يقصر الصلاة الرباعية فيجعلها ركعتين من حين أن يخرج من بلده إلى أن يرجع إليه ولو طالت المدة لما ثبت في صحيح البخاري عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أقام بمكة عام الفتح تسعة عشر يوما يصلي ركعتين وأقام النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بتبوك عشرين يوما يقصر الصلاة
لكن إذا صلى المسافر خلف إمام يصلي أربعا فإنه يصلي أربعا تبعا لإمامه سواء أدرك الإمام من أول الصلاة أو في أثنائها فإذا سلم الإمام أتى بتمام الأربع لقول النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم : إنما جعل الإمام ليؤتم به فلا تختلفوا عليه وعموم قوله : فما أدركتم فصلوا وما فاتكم فأتموا وسئل ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما : ما بال المسافر يصلي ركعتين إذا انفرد وأربعا إذا ائتم بمقيم , فقال تلك السنة وكان ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما إذا صلى مع الإمام صلى أربعا وإذا صلى وحده صلى ركعتين

3- إن المشروع في حق المسافر أن يجمع بين الظهر والعصر وبين المغرب والعشاء إذا احتاج إلى الجمع مثل أن يكون مستمرا في سيره والأفضل حينئذ أن يفعل ما هو الأرفق به من جمع التقديم أو التأخير .
أما إذا كان غير محتاج إلى الجمع فإنه لا يجمع مثل أن يكون نازلا في محل لا يريد أن يرتحل إلا بعد دخول وقت الصلاة الثانية فهذا لا يجمع بل يصلي كل فرض في وقته لأنه لا حاجة به إلى الجمع .
